Our new number 2 or Director of Football?
All the chatter on the web has it as a DOF. If this is true I can say I'm confident that Ashley and Mort have no idea wtf they're doing. I pray that this is some sort of joke.

I hope it's as an assistant coach and not DOF. I would rather have Chris Colman but oh well.

Not one of my favourite people but it is clear the man is a winner and a good manager in my opinion, got Milwall to an FA Cup Final and along with Gus Poyet has done amazingly well at Leeds.

FYI its being confirmed that the Git from Leeds has a position being created for him. Some kind of Executive management thingee. Mort is stressing he will have nothing to do with teh first team management nor with a Director of Football.

Resident kneecapper and VP of Sleaze perhaps?

Is anyone else as confused as I am over this appointment? Apparently he's not even going to be on Tyneside full time and will be based in London during part of the week. Maybe he's going to help in the acquisition of new players primarily British based players from the lower divisions?

Someone needs to be in place when Keegan pulls a runner.

Thx,

I moved everything on Wise to a new thread in light of the linked story. The Times has a piece that, if accurate, thoroughly explains (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/newcastle/article3267393.ece) everything going on and shows that there's far more than just Wise to this new regime.

I still have no opinion on Wise, but I like the sound of that set up.

I vaguely remember Wise as someone you hated to play against, but would love in your team.

I remember his success as player-coach for Millwall, and Leeds has done well this season. Didn't they start 10 points behind the pack on day 1?

Having read the Times Online article, I would say it makes some sense. As we all know, results and development of the club are going to tell in the long run. I'm willing to watch with some hope of improvement.

In the biggest changes since Mike Ashley bought Newcastle last summer, The Times can reveal that Tony Jimenez, a London-based property developer, will join the board as a vice-president and Jeff Vetere, a scout for Real Madrid, will be appointed as technical director to complete a continental-style management structure working in support of Kevin KeeganThis piece imo is the bigger deal. I do like the set-up although I'm still not convinced about Wise (my feelings are strictly based on my hate for him as a Chelsea player). Hopefully that will change.

After opening my mind u pand reading that article iam amending my previous post from addressing Wise as " Git From Leeds" to "Git who Manages (Executively) NUFC" as I still think he'sa Git... but at least he;s our Git now.

From the sound of the setup I am pleased. Now howaboot a Number 2 For Keegan yeah?

I have to agree with mplsToon here, I like the structure they have set up, but we need a #2 to help KK out with the technical side of things. I am going to hope that this new structure helps the team find new talent to bring in and help with "The Revolution."

I read somewhere that Psycho was mooted. Not sure what I think about that, his Citeh teams sucked.

And to clarify for penubly, Leeds were docked 15 points for emerging from administration without a CVA or whatever.

That is a pretty terrible article. I think some "journalist" is trying to create a problem.

Newcastle confirm Wise role (http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_3087862,00.html)

To me it sounds like a good situation. I wonder if Wise's role is what the club wanted to give Shearer?
