I like you're passion.............hehe he..... About the list, I'm ok with it. People are always gonna have if's and but's........this list is ok. We have the injury bug going around and i'll give a chance to some players who have not had NT exposure, but that deserve an opportunity. The only complaint I do have is not calling Nelson Rivas...........In my opinion, and I know he did well while there, but Walter Moreno has not shown a lot lately. If anything, our CB's should always have the pressure to play their best at their clubs because they should know that the competition is fierce. We have a lot of depth at the position and we shouldn't just go with " what worked last time"..............It would've been a good message by Pinto if he could've put RIvas in and Moreno out. That way he could've put other people on notice (Amaranto, {Velez}, Bustos, Renteria, Macnelly, Amaya, Sanchez, Anchico, Rodallega, Edixon......etc)........that they are not gonna just "fall" into La Seleccion and that if you want to be in it you really have bust your a$$.......although we all know Pinto has it's 'preferidos', but you get the picture......
..... Lastly, if this is not Giovanni's last chance, I don't what is. He's been given chance after chance after chance after chance.........even by different coaches. I know there's some people who are in favor of him being called up, but he to me is like reading last week's paper: Been there done that. If he hasn't made most of his opportunities in the past, why will he now??????? If the excuse is that he's more mature, I don't buy it..........he's in his early 30's....That's when players are past their maturity and are in their declining stage..........Players, and I mean good players, are on their peak between the ages of 23ish-28ish.......and if they haven't done anything by that time, it's because they can't give anything extra to what they have already shown.
Anyway, I hope we get some good practices going and make the most of the friendlies so we get in top form in time for the Peru and Ecuador matches. I also hope the players keep building their team chemistry and we get some true camadery
agree with all but 1 thing :) Some players mature at different stages in their career, people forget easily that Gio was one of the reasons we got to hold the Copa America in 2001, him and Aristi. Gio's decline after that was shocking but he is back now, and showing that he has something still and I think we have to give him at least these last 2 friendlies, (i think him and mcnelly will be jelling the team) especially in Paris to show the world what he is about. He wont be signed now by a major club but we need some serious distributing and holding play up in our midfield and he can deliver for another 2-3 years.

This is the squad which we will face. Notably no Trezeguet.
Squad:
Goalkeepers: Gregory Coupet (Olympique Lyon), Sebastien Frey (Fiorentina), Mickael Landreau (Paris St Germain), Steve Mandanda (Olympique Marseille).
Defenders: Eric Abidal (Barcelona), Jean-Alain Boumsong (Lyon), Francois Clerc (Lyon), Sebastien Squillaci (Lyon), William Gallas (Arsenal), Julien Escude (Sevilla), Patrice Evra (Manchester United), Philippe Mexes (AS Roma), Willy Sagnol (Bayern Munich), Lilian Thuram (Barcelona).
Midfielders: Alou Diarra (Girondins Bordeaux), Lassana Diarra (Portsmouth), Mathieu Flamini (Arsenal), Claude Makelele (Chelsea), Jeremy Toulalan (Lyon), Patrick Vieira (Inter Milan).
Forwards: Nicolas Anelka (Chelsea), Hatem Ben Arfa (Lyon), Karim Benzema (Lyon), Sidney Govou (Lyon), Djibril Cisse (Marseille), Samir Nasri (Marseille), Bafetimbi Gomis (St Etienne), Thierry Henry (Barcelona), Florent Malouda (Chelsea), Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich).

Guys we all love inter and its prob one of the biggest teams in europe but he is their 5th choice CB !!!
he only played Copa Italia, and like 5-6 games of the italian league... did he do great ??? Yes but give him a little more time.... and this much playing time is because the 2 starters of inter were injured for the full season very early on in the season if Cordoba-Samuel wall that Inter has was 100% the season he would have never played
lets see how he does never season b4 we all call for Pintos head for not calling him
as for Zapata after his injury he and Udinese have been very weak on defense, and hope he regains form as well as Walter Moreno(feel more secure with him than Luis Perea) before Qualifiers
Id take 2 loses in Europe and 2 wins in Qualifiers :D but I am expecting to beat Ireland, tie/lose to France tho hope Rodagella comes in big so everyone shuts the ******** up about him, and then win Peru, tie/win Ecuador is my big dream for the next 2 weeks

Walter Moreno has been benched! I would much rather have Rivas who is in much better form.

Nah, Domenech just considers a midfield can only be a defensive player. :D Aimé Jacquet's school.

Jinks - With all due respect, Colombia would have won that cup with or without Gio. We didn't let a goal in - the whole tournament - unless my memory fails me. Cordoba y Yepes won that trophy, IMHO.
Gio played decent, but I remember Ferreira playing in his place in the second round, and looking even better...He's never played consistently for the NT, and has always been terrific for his clubs. He's a consistent deceiver so to speak.

And with the teams other countries sent, we could have put Martin Garcia as striker....

I don't know why people don't understand that Giovanny will never offer any consistency and that he disappears when he's needed the most. Look for him to do a "David Copperfield"-like performance against France (he'll dissapear). I'd rather go with Ferreira or Macnely that can carry a team under pressure...

Gio saved his NT career by coming back to Colombia this made Pinto love him... if he was still in Chile he would have been dropped from the team
I always disliked NT GIO but last game him and Motta togehter too less pressure off Gio and made him play well tho Venezulea is a small team and Rodagella did score in like the 1st minute of the game....
The real hero of the game was Rodagella... scored 2, pk against him, Polo goals was a rebound off a Rodagella shot....
Yea everyone giving GIO the thumbs up but it was Rodagella + 10 , much like the sub 20 2005... sure it was a hell of a 10 but Rodagella was the whole team that game

Hey, just checking with ya.............do you intentionally say Rodagella as a joke , nickname or what???? If it is, explain because I missed the boat on that one......
