Bosnich info is in the middle of the Okon article....
LEEDS UNITED have confirmed that Paul Okon will arrive at Elland Road for talks on Thursday.
The former Fiorentina midfielder has been without a club since his release from Middlesbrough in the summer, but could be on the cusp of a move to Elland Road.
United chairman Peter Ridsdale said: "We are speaking to him in the morning and if those talks go alright he will undergo a medical and we will look to sign him."
Whites boss Terry Venables is a confirmed admirer of Okon`s talents, having coached him while manager of the Australian national team, and the ace`s steadying influence in the middle of the park will give the flair players at Elland Road the chance to express themselves.
The midfielder could be another defensive option for Leeds, as Venables employed him as a sweeper when the pair were at Middlesbrough together.
The departure of Venables and Bryan Robson from Teesside coincided with a dip in form for Okon, and he could never force his way into Steve McClaren`s plans and was shown the door in the summer.
Venables has money to spend following the sale of Rio Ferdinand, but the capture of Okon will be a free transfer, meaning there will still be funds in the kitty to further strengthen the squad.
Okon should be joined in West Yorkshire by Nicky Barmby, who is expected to be unveiled at a press conference on Thursday.
Meanwhile Socceroo goalkeeper Mark Bosnich may be joining former Manchester United team mates Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole at Blackburn Rovers.
Bosnich continues to be out of favour with Chelsea coach Claudio Ranieri despite his good form. He has featured only once in pre-season trial matches and has not been in the either the first team or reserve team squad in recent weeks.
Chelsea are in tight financial circumstances after several big spending seasons with minimal on field success. They are keen to cut their massive wages bill and the idle Mark Bosnich is an obvious target.
However Bosnich will only leave Chelsea on his terms. He has been toughened by the harsh treament he has received in recent years firstly from Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and then by Claudio Ranieri at Chelsea.
Bosnich had been linked to a move with Celtic but was unable to agree terms
