What about Flamini? He's available on a free. I'm hearing a lot of rumors that Carrick is moving on...if thats true then Flamini would be a good replacement. I think all the big clubs will be after him this summer. Arsenal are crazy if they let him go.

there would be no reason to let Carrick "move on". if anything, this season has proved how much a deep resource for the center midfield is needed.
i can't tell if i enjoy or hate transfer season and all the asinine rumors that go around.

I think it was on the united radio show on worldsoccernetdaily. Just rumors like I said. But those guys seemed pretty adamant that he was moving on. I like Carrick but if someone wants to pay the 16 or 17 we did then I would at least think about selling.

Carrick has been our most consistent midfielder this season, IMO. He definitely started off slow, because of low confidence as he wasn't making the side on a regular basis. However, now he's been good to great for most of his games. Scholes has had his ups and downs, Hargreaves is only recently coming good, and while Anderson has been a revelation we still don't know what he's going to be.
Carrick has slowly evolved into a more complete center circle player and he's been brilliant. Losing him would be a huge mistake.

Drunken Irish people are good for a few things.
1. The Males know how to give you free beers.
2. The females give crazy brains
3. Mix the two together and you can have the possibility of not paying for beer, getting crazy brains, in one night.
The Irish are good people.

Fergies top four transfer targets according to the immaculate paper known as the The Sun:D
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article1050423.ece
Veloso
Moutinho
Antonio Valencia
wilson Palacios
Imagine the player Sir Alex Ferguson would tranform Miguel Veloso into! If he were to go to United it would be amazing.
Still, Lahm should be target number one..superb fullback playing on EITHER side..his versatility could cover for Evra if God forbid anything happens.

Yeah SAF and Wenger would do wonders with Veloso. Too bad there is no chance of him going to United. Hargy, Carrick, Anderson and Scholes are all playing well.
Moutinho? Please? The kid is above average, but hes' not THAT good. And he gets bullied in the Liga. He will get sodomized in the EPL. He can play multiple positions well, but he is not a game changing piece.

Can't see SAF buying any of those players. Spot on from the Sun as usual.

I think Veloso is a real possibility. The press have had us linked with him since last summer. Fergie might want to wait another year, but somebody might force has hand.

Thats position is stacked though, whats really the point.

Mainly because Veloso wants to come and because there has been rumours that Spurs are sniffing around therefore perhaps forcing Fergie's hand.

Is manu buying every toptalent now? Will you have a squad of 30 or 40 young players soon all top talents? Thats just greedy. I hope the english football system will blow up very soon or the EU will set regulations for a more balanced market and competition.

So basically you guys over there can have a fair chance at catching up?
Not but seirouslly, I do agree. I do not/still dont expect many moves this summer. Maybe 3 at the most. But buying Veloso and Moutinho? I dunno, it is the sun though.

Germany has ************ tax and club ownership laws that put themselves at a disadvantage, capitalism bites when you don't compete in it, life's not fair. Cry me a river.

i hope ferguson isnt becoming obssessed with young portugese players just cos of the success of a few.... fine take the best ones, but i have a bad feeling about those names....
I mean being linked to two wigan players kind of annoys me :p... moutinho looks ok, veloso doesnt look like he will add much to our team.
what we must remember is chelsea and arsenal will likely be improving and we cant stand still... plus these signings ignore our obvious weakness lack of strikers and a decent right back.... midfield is ample atm with at least 9 decent players.

Why the f**k do we need Moutinho or Veloso?
Scholes, Anderson, Carrick, Hargreaves, Fletcher.
No. We don't need anyone. Maybe after next season (or 2), when Scholes quits or becomes more of a bit part guy. Not now.

Veloso would add a lot more to this team than moutinho. Veloso would be our actually holding midfielder. Hargreaves can't do it, Carrick can, but he cannot mark the Kaka's and Messi's of this world.

I don't see a pressing need for a CM right now. However, if we were to play to Hargreaves' strengths and move him to the flank either as deputy RB and part time RW/LW then bringing in one more CM wouldn't be a bad idea.
However, of the names recently floated around only Flamini would intrigue me. He's got energy AND passing skills and they way he punches above his weight reminds me of Keano. He's NOT Keano, but for such a little guy he does a helluva job next to a very attack minded CM partner.
Of names not floated around or linked to United, another Arsenal midfielder intersts me. Diaby. He'll probably want to leave given his limited role and if we went in for him I believe SAF could make something of him. He's physically dominant and a capable dribler and shooter. He's so upright and purposeful. We've not had a presence akin to his in CM since Robbo. Again, he's not Robbo - not nearly as good and doesn't even have most of his elements, but we haven't had a true threat to destroy both ways for quite awhile. Keane was a superb passer and he scored crucial goals, but he wasn't a threat to maraud down the heart of the field every match like Diaby would be.
