I hate Michael Cera, the son from Arrested Development. Him being Canadian, he gets pumped up by Canadian media as being "the next big thing" in hollywood. All I ever hear of is how great an actor he is, but all his shows and movies I have seen his character is always exactly the same, the shy unspoken nerdy kid who backs away from girls and is always looking like an idiot whenever a pretty girl talks to him. Every single movie he's been in is exactly the same, Superbad, Arrested Development, you name it, he's plays the exact same character in every movie. I've even seen some youtube vids he's made and still the exact same thing. he can't act!!!

For all of you No Country for Old Men Fans out there the DVD/Blu-Ray will be released on March 11th.
Anyone else going to be busting down their local BB's doors at opening time to purchase this film? I haven't been this excited about a DVD release in a long time.

I have it on my Netflix queue, but I looked at my buddy's copy of the book and read the first couple of chapters and I was quickly hooked. So, I think I will read it first then see the movie.

Umm...Michael Cera is awesome.
Yes, he's been typecast. Duh. Who cares? He plays a role and he plays it to perfection. His timing is incredible. You can't just take any nerd off the street and have him deliver dialogue like Cera does. The kid is good.
Also, he's f---ing 19 years old. Give him a break. There's plenty of time for him to branch out.

I really don't think he's brilliant, his line delivery in Superbad was awkward and ill timed at best. I guess it's just me and his character(s) are total opposites of each other. While he is a snivelling little kid bitching about wether it'd be good to screw the chick when she's begging him for it, I'm like, "dude, ur stupid, do it". All he ever does is snivel about the rammifications and ends up never doing anything.
and by rating him as "awesome", to me he would have to play more than one typecast role, but he hasn't, and that's all he can do, so I dont think he's awesome, just picture when's he's 40 playing the high-schooler in Superbad 2

You do know that actors don't write their own movie scripts, right?

Again, he's only 19, there's plenty of time. Also, unless you've seen every single movie, TV show, play, youtube video, etc. he's been in, you can't say he plays the same role in literally everything he does. You're basing it on the popular media, i.e. Superbad, AD, Juno, and probably "Impossible is the Opposite of Possible" youtube video.

Obviously, do you really think Michael Cera could get a chick even close to as hot as the chick in Superbad? I mean, if he wasn't famous. But he's always played the kid who you can't stand and just want to put a fist through his face and steal his lunch money, even in interviews he is always like that, art imitates life so to say

Unless one of us meets Michael Cera off-camera, I think it's kinda dumb to make conclusions about his personality. I'll leave it at that.

yeah, just picked up the book NCFOM this weekend while out of town... looking forward to some insights that the film may have left... er... more like answers to the myriad of questions the film left me with. Which is by the way, the true sign of a brilliant film IMHO.

I agree; I hate when films spoon feed every answer to you. It is nice to finish watching a film and feel like you really enjoyed every moment of it, but at the same time you are asking a myriad of questions. Films like that are timeless because that uncertainty is what makes you revisit it again and again.

If anyone likes Muse (ForeverRed?), this month they are releasing a CD/DVD called HAARP, which is a live album and video of last summer's Wembley Stadium performance. Should be rather amazing.

Sweet. I like Muse quite a bit...well at least everthing up to Absolution. Their more recent singles have not really impressed me as much as that album did.
The piano on "Apocolypse Please" is haunting on a good sound system. I wish this Album was available in SACD.
Anybody here like some of the old school punk? I have been listening to Bad Religion, the Circle Jerks, and the Adolescents a lot recently.
BR has a great live DVD "Palladium" that is chock full of good songs (plus mr. Brett was there). Their lyrics are great, sometimes you need a thesaurus to figure them out though...

got 102 songs of them in my playlist, does that count? :p

Blackholes isn't that good true, but I really like several tracks e.g. Knights of Cydonia. Honestly I don't think it's possible produce such a masterpiece like Absolution twice in a row. I mean as Absolution came out I stopped listening to anything else and only listen to this piece of brilliance for months

I should probably just pick up Blackholes. I have only heard the songs from that Album that are on the radio, and I typically enjoy some of their non-singles more than the radio stuff anyways.
