Try not to be biased when you vote and post.

Vote for the best player overall and then it would be good if you post the reasons for your decision.

Criteria you might want to take into account:
• communication with the back 4
• positioning
• reflexes
• aerial ability
• punching
• one-on-ones
• penalty-saving
• kicking
• throwing

I only have one issue and that is the poll should be made public so we can see the actual votes and can therefore eliminate any phantom votes that are cast. Other than that it's good to see you go ahead with the poll. You deserve credit for that decision.

Are the mods able to change this?

This is silly. Reina is a good 'keeper but Cech is on an entirely different level! Chelsea effectively lost their two-year grip on the Premiership trophy during the time when Cech was injured last winter (okay, Man Utd might've ended-up winning it eventually, but the Cech injury made it a lot easier for them).

agreed. chelsea seemed apprehensive and almost stupid at times with the back 4 when hilario and cudicini played. cech is a big guy, he's athletic, great in the air, etc. one thing i think pepe has on him his penalties. they're both incredible goalkeepers, but i think cech is of more value to his club and his country and has really kept chelsea in title contention in past years.

I can't make it public, but I can tell you how I voted.

I voted for Cech.

However, I think Reina has made HUGE strides in the last two years and that Cech hasn't gone much better than we've seen.

I think it is very close and Reina can become even better. Unfortunately, he can't get any "bigger" - which would help.

Grinners89 and I have had this debate countless times. He obviously sides with Reina and is of the belief that Reina is better than Cech and has been for sometime. I disagree and side with Cech, who I (and most others) consider to be in the top tier of keepers in the world alongside Casillas and just behind Buffon. Due to this disagreement I challenged Grinners89 to create a poll and to be fair he has done so.

I've not seen enough of Casillas. But, last I saw Buffon, he was better than both Reina and Cech. He just seemed to be the perfect melding of both guys. Large, technical, great spring and agility, commanding.

I think I'll make another poll. It'll be Scholes v. Fowler from 1994-96. Will you vote in that one Teso? ;)

Edit: Or maybe... Gary Neville versus a stick-less scarecrow.

It's very close, but if I had to pick one to be in our side, I would take Čech.

I think Reina is superior in many areas to Cech, but in those games when it matters Cech always gets the job done, even if you couldnt blame him, if the goal was scored, he still saves em

Cech

Agreed.

I voted for Reina. Cech is a monster though. Reina's distribution and control without his hands is better. Cech's technique is good, he knows what to do and when to do it all the time. The one thing I worry about Reina is his positioning and the risks he takes. They usually work out. Reina's punching and going for crosses and corners has also improved.

Cech is the better 'keeper. Reina is superior to him in his swiftness off the line and his handled distribution (he actively uses a long throw, whereas Cech tends to take the time to kick out of hand - which may be direction from the manager, of course, but still). Other than that, Cech is superior. That said, I do agree with whomever it was up thread that said Cech is probably as good as he's ever going to get right now, whereas there are still areas we can all name where Reina should and probably will improve.

He already has improved. And with the very high line that we play with, even higher when Agger is playing, he has to play two roles...as a sweeper and a GK, which is very difficult and he does it well.

Cech is possibly the better shot-stopper. Reina is better at saving penalties. Reina is better at quickly distributing the ball.

Cech has made some very bad mistakes this season. He has also become more injury prone. So Reina is currently more consistent and Cech is somewhat living off his reputation. This may change but that's my current assessment.

Thats was going to be my line ;)

Leave the headgear for the rugger boys who dont want to lose an ear in a ruck.

Harden up Cech.

1 vote Reina for potential to be the best.
