.wtf, rafa marquez has been the best mexican player for some years now but people dont call him the next maradona or the best soccer player...that comment was so dumb dude because us mexicans dont be saying marquez is the best in the world because we (well me) use facts to make statements and CR7 has the facts to be called the best player right now and for the next five-ten years.

but wrong thread...

LOL did i get under your skin with that one? i know rafa is not overrated just wanted to see what you would say if i threw a name out there that everyone knows is not overrated.

messi is not overrated and thats a fact. you want to hold the fact that he didn't win a CL than thats your problem. his leval of skill and the way he plays says it all. Messi doesn't go missing in games like some other overrated players will and is always one of if not the best player on the pitch every game. the praise he gets this year is well deserved. his play and stats are doing all the talking for him

Maybe, but not for the most of people in South America to consider he's overrated in this continent, less the most overrated player ever.

The reason people call Messi the best football player is because he actually is, anyone that tried to say the same about marquez needs to get their head examined.

@Erick. You made the comment that Messi hasn't proven anything. Obviously you are basing your comments on one silly FIFA award. Messi has his Champions League and La Liga titles so what else do you want?

Somehow I get the impression that all you want to do is wind people up. What Ronaldo did last year was amazing and I'll take nothing away from it but if you really are watching Messi's matches and still feel Ronaldo is the better and most effective player over the past almost year than I question whether you have a clue what futbol is. No offense, I think you're a good guy and all but seriously?

Before you think about bringing up my nationality do know that I am extremely critical of Messi and in numerous posts in the past have openly proclaimed Ronaldo the better player. I've done so to the point of being called a hater in the Argentina forums. I'm sure Phil80 will agree I'm definitely no Messi fanboy.

Messi is the better player loco so get over it.

Thinking about it today, I think Davor Suker is a very underrated player, he was an incredible goalscorer.

Figo? Maybe but I'm not sure what you are basing your views on. I am interested because I've always felt he was rated fairly. Hugol on the other hand might catch a ton of stick for being a bad coach and an idiotic bad coach at that but as a player at Madrid the man was awesome. I won't hold his World Cup performances against him either as those Mexico sides he played on weren't that good. Hugol is rated properly and aside from BigSoccer I don't think many would disrespect his legacy.

figo and hugo sanchez

niether are underrated.

Hugo is the best mexican to ever touch a ball and Figo is arguably the best player to come from portugal.(eusebio is right there or even better)

Well to be technically correct Eusebio wasn't from Portugal, he was originally from Mozambuque**. So Figo is the best player from Portugal.

In terms of worldwide standing you could easily make the case that he is underrated.

I think some people forget that he won 2 League titles as a player and scored about 100 goals with Pumas before he even set foot in Spain
