There is no way in hell that Recoba is overrated.

So sitting on the bench at Inter makes him good?

My point was the vast majority did not rate him at all. How can he therefore be overrated? Plus he is not sitting on the bench at Inter.

yes sorry the Torino bench, and soon to be a Uruguayuan club. :)

Perhaps he is not overrated but he has failed to live up to his potential barring a couple of seasons. He certainly is not underrated.

You say bad luck but the rest of us say stupidity.
As usual, never it's good to generalize at least it was only an irony :D.

This is the most underrated not overrated thread.

Apart from Iniesta, all those are overrated.

would like to give reasons and explanations for ur conclusion?

Already explained Recoba.

Cavenaghi - the so called next Batistuta. He is doing a decent job in a decent league, but he's certianly not as good as Batistuta.

Aimar - next Maradona. He did well in his first few seasons at Valencia, but has not been as good since Rafa left.

haha..
so u really think that anyone who is said to be the next -bla bla bla have to be as good as them???...then certainly guyz like riquelme, ronaldinho, rivaldo, etc...are underrated coz they were the next peles and maradonas but haven't proved to be as good as them.....:D
sure, cavenaghi isn't as good as bati and remember, NOONE WILL EVER BE LIKE BATIGOL!!!...but i think he is a perfect replacement for crespo...the reason i think he is underrated is coz people think guyz like milito, cruz, etc are better options to replace crespo than cavenaghi...in france, people say cavenaghi is as good a striker as benzema is...
about aimar, u said it right....but i still feel is underappreciated and underrated....

Ronaldinho and Rivaldo were thought of as the best players in the world at certain times. Riquelme was at least a top 5 in the world around 2006.

Cruz had been scoring a lot earlier in the season while Milito was great before this season while Cavenaghi was struggling so no harm in anyone saying that.

If people are now comparing him to Benzema then he's not underrated!

Not really. If you go around the Argentina forums almost everyone wants Cavenaghi to be the #9 for Argentina especially now that he's recovering his River form. I don't think he's underrated or overrated.

What's the most underated players for me its probbaly Rogério Ceni who is all time leading scoring goalkeeper who takes free kicks and penalties for Saou Paul and spent his entire career there and capped for brazil a few times. But he's never left Brazil and only has had about 16 caps for brazil.

I doubt that many of the posters on these boards will have heard of ex-Scotland, Newcastle, and Blackpool midfielder Tony Green. Blackpool fans have voted Tony Green as THE most skillful player ever to play for their club - more skillful than Stanley Matthews, Stanley Mortenson, or Alan Ball.

It's a sad fact of life that the world would never really discover what he could have achieved.

Newcastle manager Joe Harvey famously said "Tony Green is the best midfielder in the country. His skills thrill me in a way that no one else has been able to achieve"

Don Revie, after a blinding Tony Green performance against Leeds, said "Tony Green was superb. He is a man with skill, courage and pace"

Anyone who saw the maestro in action will know exactly what Harvey meant. Green kept Newcastle in the top flight and became a legend on Tyneside.
In one game in season 1971/2, he went to Old Trafford and played Man United off the park.

Sadly very little footage of Green exists today. Attached is some footage of Green dismantling the great Bobby Moore for Blackpool.

Stan Mortenson described Tony Green as "A great great player"

Newcastle coach Burkinshaw rightly said "For taking a man on there is no one better"
Poised to be recognised as the best footballer in Britain and maybe Europe, and mercilessly kicked by desperate defenders, he suffered a career-ending knee injury against Crystal Palace.
When the medics broke the news that Tony would never play again, Joe Harvey was quoted as saying "It was the saddest day of my life"
At the age of 26, the career of potentially the best player in the world was brought to a sudden halt.

Yes, era Liverpool.

wouldn't that count as a fairly small part of his overall career?
