Need a little help.. If i create a picture of Tottenham's current best XI who would they be? In no order....
Berbatov
Keane
Jenas
Lennon
Robinson
Bent
Defoe
Malbranque
King
Bale
Rocha
??

Would they be considered the Spurs best XI??
I'm just not sure who to include..the starting XI, the best XI, or the fans favorite XI?? Any recommendations??

Is there anyone I should definately leave off??

You recover yet, skizz? I know that the game did not mean near as much to you all, but was a cracker nonetheless.

Also, what's their usual starting XI just for giggles...?

As far as a starting 11, here goes:

-------------------Keane-----------Berbatov------------------
Malbranque -------Huddlestone-------Jenas-------------Lennon
Bale--------------King--------------Dawson---------Chimbonda
---------------------------Cerny------------------------------

Now the Huddlestone position and the goalkeeper are essentially up for grabs. Robinson has been the clear #1 all season ... but he's sucked horribly this season and been recently replaced by Cerny. IMHO, Cerny has proven far better this season than Robbo.

Our midfield has been problematic all year. Lennon and Jenas are auto-matic starters when healthy. Malbranque, who is really a central attacking midfielder, has earned a starting spot when healthy too, but he's being played nominally as our left wing midfielder with licence to roam. Our left backs (Bale and Lee) attack up the left wing to fill the void where Malbranque would be if he were playing left mid. Sometimes Bale and/or Lee fill in as LM as well. Huddlestone's position was primarily manned by the ever-disappointing Zokora, and recently by the less than excellent Kevin Prince Boateng, but none of the trio have laid claim to the position.

Up top we're loaded. Robbie Keane has been our best player this season by far, and Berbatov's brilliance has resurfaced recently, and he's playing fantastically currently. Our other two forwards get far less playing time but are both quite good. Defoe has been a consumate professional and delivered some timely goals in relief. Bent, our newest transfer, has struggled to find his spot and not yet found a rythem from the bench (and is currently injured). But, everyone agrees he's extremely talented.

Two other players deserve mentioning, Kaboul and Taarabt. Kaboul started most matches while Ledley King was out injured, and had his ups and downs. But, this is his first season, the so-called "settling-in period," and he's gotten 22 games under his belt and shown flashes of real talent. He just needs more experience to become a good player. Taarabt is a dribbling whiz-kid and absolute fan favorite, but he is erratic passing the ball and doesn't pass it enough when he needs to, and is only average defensively. But when/if this kid puts it all together he's going to be absoultely fabulous ... or Ab Fab Taarabt if you prefer.

If you want our most talented 11 regardless of position, I might suggest something like this:

Top class:
Berbatov - F
Keane - F
King - CD
Bale - LB
Lennon - RW
----------------

Mid Tier:
Jenas - CM
Malbranque - M
Taarabt - Reserve M (here on potential not performance)
Kaboul - CD (here on potential not performance)
Chimbonda RB (here on last season's performance not this season's)
Dawson (here on last season's performance not this season's)

That's how I see it. Just one man's opinion.

Damnit man, you've pushed me into the ANGER STAGE!!! What does make me laugh though is that 2 months ago a lot of people on here said he was shit, and now he's a semi-God. Understandable though.

jrob, I won't recover from that until the next time we play one another. And I know a lot of people say that it was only the Carling Cup but Arse v Spurs is Arse v Spurs, it means everything to me. There's a very limited number of people on BigSoccer who feel the same, on the Arse side at least.

The anti-Jenas sentiments were hardly universal; he had a slow start but he was injured. I always liked Jenas, good chap. Now I really like Jenas. :D

yeah, he's been on a bit of a roller-coaster of favour with the fans. a roller-coaster of form over the last couple of years, too, though, to be fair. still, it's not as though he's ever gotten the 'gardner treatment', who, even when he's been decent*, is the recipient of venom and bile.

love the avatar, by the way:

"when you've got spurs, use adebayor!
you can count on him to cut the margin to four."

*yes, there have been times.

Keane - Berbatov
Malbranque - ???? - Jenas - Lennon
Lee/Bale - King - Dawson - Chimbonda

wish we had a good left mid though, Downing or Taylor would be my top picks.

Well our best XI just changed with the marquee addition of Jonathan Woodgate. I'd say our best XI lineup would now be:

----------------Keane--------------Berbatov-------------------
Malbranque-----??????------------Jenas-----------------Lennon
Bale------------King--------------Woodgate---------Chimbonda
----------------------Cerny-----------------------------------
