Over the past 4 years, I have played in a recreational league for high school students. I think I was one of the better players (though certainly not the best).

However, this next year, I am trying out for my college (division III) soccer team. I have no clue at what level the play will be at, since I never played for my high school (I didn't try out).

Can anyone give any feedback as to how hard Div3 college soccer might be, or a comparison of it to a high school rec league? Thanks!

It depends on the school. I've seen some that could walk over some DI schools. Then again, they could be really pathetic.

No comparison. I was one of the best players in a high school rec league, and can't get into the starting lineup for a Div 3 team that averages about one win per year.

Div 3 play is probably as fast as it gets anywhere in the world... if rather sloppy most of the time. Lots of defensive pressure, almost no space given at all. Lots of very physical challenges, and professional fouls. I've seen teams rack up as many as 10 yellow cards in a match. Very ugly stuff.

Well, to answer my own question, and to satisfy any curious minds (hah), the level of play is much higher in college. Speed of play is indeed much faster, and the game is much more physical. I didn't make the dressing team, but since there aren't actually any cuts, I am going to still try and practice with the team...maybe learn a little bit, and get a little better...
