Kevin Keegan's second stint in charge of Newcastle United begins on Saturday, ironically enough against the same Bolton side that played Newcastle on Sam Allardyce's debut. Well, not the same Bolton side. No Anelka anymore for them, as he's joined up with CSKA Lon--er, Chelski. But anyway, we beat them 1-3 at the Reebok that day, so maybe the new manager karma will continue.
Current form: Throw ours out the window. We've got four points from our last six Premier League games but this is a whole new ball game, I think. For Bolton, they have two wins in the last six Premier League games, four losses.
Recent history: We beat them 1-3 as stated above in the reverse fixture in the season opener. Bolton have only won at SJP once in the Premier League's history, that coming last year when they emerged 1-2 victors through a Diouf double.
Referee report: Alan Wiley is the man in the middle for this match. He has issued 64 yellow cards and one red in 18 matches this season. With Bolton leading the Prem in bookings (47), there's sure to be at least a few names taken in this match. Wiley refereed this fixture last season, when we lost to Bolton, and the only time he's officiated a Newcastle game this season was our 0-3 demolition by Liverpool this season.
Team News: Newcastle are missing three central midfielders (Butt, Emre, Smith) to suspension, and have a further four players absent due to international duty in Africa (Martins, Beye, Faye, Geremi). For Bolton, Meite is gone on international duty, and Diouf will be absent for international duty/suspension/both. Bolton will have Gretar Steinsson and possibly Matthew Taylor, both recent purchases, available.
Newcastle squad: I think we're looking at something very similar to what we had in the Stoke game, with someone slotting in for Emre. Probably Barton if he's allowed to play, but it will be well after sunset when the game ends so who really knows. Otherwise we could be looking at Kazenga LuaLua (who incidentally is actually Lomana's brother, not his nephew, according to BBC Radio Newcastle...no clue how they screwed that one up ) getting his full debut, or perhaps the dreaded 4-3-3 for one game only.
Projected lineup: Given, Carr, Taylor, Cacapa, Enrique, Milner, LuaLua, N'Zogbia, Duff, Owen, Viduka.
Projected result: I'm expecting nothing less than a win against a side that's only not in the relegation zone on goal difference. 3-1.
