I am eager to try out the Osi by Nike. Hopefully they last.

Seriously I never had a problem with my shinguards...They are the regular adidas predator I think that's how they're called...the weight is almost nothing and they're almost impossible to break. They don't slip away and they cost around 5/10 bucks.. OSI sounds fancy and all...but is it necessary improvement.............?

OSI sounds fancy and all...but is it necessary improvement.............?:rolleyes:Depends what you want. If you want the lightest thing that still meets the rules that you have to wear shinguards, then you don't need it. If you need protection, OSI is going to be lighter, tougher, and fit better. And the bigger and beefier the guard, the better the OSI advantage in all three.

I used to have a adidas OSI shinguard about 6 years ago. It was the best shinguard I ever had. It comes with a foam made shingurad, which it has a pocket. You slide in that piece of fiberglass into it and wrap it with the tapes for 30 minutes. Before that, you need to wet the fiberglass with water and do it fast after it gets contact with the air, it will be stiffen and hard. By that time, you couldn't change the shape anymore.

So, after the 30 minutes, I took off the tape and I played with them on the pitch. It was awesome. I can took any sliding tackle at the front with no problem at all. I even tried to use hammer and knock at it (I was wearing though), it felt minimal pain. However, it was stolen by someone.:(

Four years ago, I bought the Nike OSI shinguard. It was great but not as good as the adidas one. The entire foam and fiberglass was attached together. And it needs to do the same trick again like the adidas one. It is lighter and smaller than the adidas but not as tough as the adidas.

However, the adidas OSI that I used to have is very poor on ventilation. Everytime after the game, my shins will be very wet. Maybe because of this, the protection of the adidas was better.
