Carra to Skipper Reds on Landmark Night (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N158403080114-1242.htm)
Rafael Benitez today confirmed Jamie Carragher will captain Liverpool on his 500th appearance for the club against Luton Town tomorrow night.
Carragher, who will see his landmark achievement recognised by the club before the game, will wear the skipper's armband following a special request from regular captain Steven Gerrard.
"Jamie will play tomorrow night," said Benitez. "I was talking with Steven Gerrard and he said to me that whether he is in the team or not, Jamie should be the captain. So Carra will captain the side."
This a great thing to do for Carra, if only the club could do more for him. He has been a great player for the club and I am glad Gerrard wanted him to captain the side. LFC.tv should be coming out with various articles, interviews, and videos over the next couple of days to commemorate this great landmark.
Here's to 500 more appearances Carra :D
We all dream of a team of Carraghers
A team of Carraghers, a team of Carraghers.

You mean it takes 500 games to become a "guest" captain of Liverpool?
Sign me up, I've only got 500 games to go.
Well done to Carra, hopefully we can win this one well for him, so he can crack a smile instead of scowling at the midfielders not tracking back! ;)

Here's a fantastic piece on many players and coaches talking about Carra for .tv: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N158411080115-0837.htm
Rush: "If his team are losing he will have a go at his teammates and that's what he's all about. Jamie just loves playing football and he knows everything about Liverpool Football Club and its history. He can tell me certain games where I scored and I don't even remember it!"

Carra has obviously been a great service to the club and 500 games is an immense achievement. Carra will almost certainly get into the Top 10 Players with most appearances for LFC (above Billy Liddell).
I think he will be a future Manager of the Club. His personality is obsessive about the game and he is always wanting to watch games and learn about it. He is very knowledgeable about the game and strikes me as someone who will go into coaching once his playing career ends.

Big time!
If I had to pick one player that resembles how I play it would be Carragher. No nonesense and always 110%. Love it!

I try to play that way as well. Carragher is a player that I can very much relate to.

I've always wanted to be a defender. Just something about ruining a striker's day that makes me smile.

Nothing like putting one through a center back's legs before smashing one past the keeper for a goal.

I like defending because 99.8% of the time nobody scores. I like the fact nobody scores on me 1v.1 or because I’m out of position. All of this and you get to score a goal or three. :D

Yup, playing as a defender it makes scoring those rare goals even more special.
