Is there any chance that the Premier League games on the weekend can be counted towards the scores this week?? Everyone would have had the chance to tip those games, and yes I am also asking because I scored 14, (3x3's and 5x1's) for the weekend's matches. ;)

I was working on a monster week myself..I had 17 points I think...however, all those results got deleted. I only make a backup of the current state of the database every saturday when I total up the scores. Since there were no matches last week, There hasnt been a backup done in 2 weeks.
Unless every single person that is playing knew exactly what picks they made for each and every match it would be impossibe to re do it fairly.
I'll get into a habit of making a backup more frequently from here on out

I am a huge fan of the concept of Tree's EPL prediction competition and I have said so before. The creativity and programming savvy are a joy to behold and the contest has been fun to play.
But I am disappointed with one aspect that I think will cause people to lose interest, and it has to do with the integrity and fairness of the system.
Like many, I had pre-picked my scores well in advance. Then, like many, I faced a busy workweek and did not check back until Friday night, knowing I was up to date.
Lo and behold the original server had failed. Tree responded quickly, but only people who happened to log in to this thread at the right time had the opportunity to hastily make new picks for the Euro games (Thurs?) and Saturday's fixtures. Busy people missed out - I lost any games that may have been counted Thurs-Sat inclusive (which I had previously made on the old server).
Consequently, less busy people and those "in the know", including Tree of course, had an unfair advantage.
The same happened when Tree decided, out of the blue and with very little prior warning, to switch from EPL fixtures only (which the name implies it is) to a host of other games. Once again, busy people who could not check in that particular day or two missed out. I lucked out that time, but I felt others were treated unfairly and noticed a substantial and disappointing subsequent dropout of participants.
In other words, the fairness and credibility of the game had been compromised then, and was again a few days ago.
I am not criticizing coz I'm not winning. In fact I'm blown away that despite having missed some days/matches I made it quite high into the Premiership level.
The fair thing to do is as follows.
Call the first half of the season a "warm up" for both organizer and players, and wrap it up.
Start afresh for the final half of the season, and assure players that impromptu changes will not occur - in other words, that the rules and approach will remain consistent.
Secondly, if something happens like a server going down and losing picks, have a chill-out period of a full week so that everybody who checks in on a weekly basis has an opportunity to compete on a level playing field.
I am not having a pop at Tree. I think the idea and design of this contest and website is excellent. It's precisely because I enjoy it so much that I am concerned that it has lost its integrity (and I realize the server going down was one of those things, it just caused a prior issue to rear its ugly head again).
Otherwise more players will drop out, leaving just a hardcore of people who live on the site and on BSB. The EPL Prediction Competition will never soar as it could, and should.
For me the fun just disappeared. I will go through the motions but the contest has lost its flavour. Let's bring the fun back, start again, and keep it clean and consistent.
I am probably speaking for a number of other "busy bees" out there, it's just that they probably don't have the time to say all this (or have already gone). More of them will just bow out, which is a shame, but understandable.
I look forward to seeing the EPLPC bringing the fun back and taking it to the next level of enjoyment.
Fresh slate. Fresh flavour. Fair dibs?

#1 I EMAILED everyone who signed up with tinformation about the swtich, If you used a bullcrap email and didnt get your email, then that is your problem. I also made the first post about the problem over the weekend and cout of fiarness cancelled the matches that were lost during the hack.
Did you make a post about Huss when BigSoccer itself got hacked and lost over half a million posts? No? didnt think so...shit happens dude.
#2 The season will not start anew. The winner at the end of the season will win the jersey. I will however create a miniseason to coinicide with the beginning of week 21 so that there are 2 running concurrently...the winner of that will win a scarf. since no one offered to but in a buck or two like I requested on the front page..so it's coming out of my own damn pocket this time.
#3 next time you have an issue. ask me personally, dickhead, and dont make some lame "calling me out" post.

Thank you Tree for taking time out of your "busy bee" lifestyle to put time, effort, and maybe a little money into providing a bit of diversion for the apparently do-nothing masses who play your game while we wait for our government checks to come.
Next season you'll have to charge a lot of money so that those of us who are wound as tightly as California(sucks)spurs(suck) can complain when things don't go our way.

It's a pity you overreacted to my suggestion to improve the EPL prediction game. A touch of immaturity combined with high blood pressure, perhaps, Tree? No wonder you have a large ignore list. Lighten up.
Others have suggested starting afresh, too.
Not everybody checks their e-mails on a daily basis.
I guess us "busy bees" will have to find our entertainment elsewhere.
Oh well. Good while it lasted.
I guess I'll just join the growing list of people who've faded away from the contest.
"Negativetouch" - your name suits you.

No, negative is someone who talks crap about something given to them free.
Negative is someone who can't just go away when they're dissatisfied but has to show their ass on the way out.
Positive is someone who has two jobs, two kids, and TWO (2) count'em TWO cup wins, wanker. ;) Although I am taking a bath this week though...

Whatever dude..actually I am not going to delete you...I'm a good guy like that...
however since people DO forget to make picks/check email every day I added that new email reminder feature. That's why people faded away..they forget to make picks and they fall hopelessly behind...
Hence good guy part #2, my making a second, half-season in a few weeks.

Thanks Tree!
I think its very cool of you that you're willing to keep running the whole season as well as a seperate 2nd half competition. Its extra work for you and I appreciate it. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into this. Its been fun playing along.

No problem...it's actually not any added work..since its all run off a database its just a matter of clicking a few extra buttons each weekend no biggie at all.
