These threads have some history that people visiting this forum might be interested in. It also might make sense if they were moved out of MLS Analysis and discussion forum to here:

Current status of each teams Youth Program (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=451688) which was started a little over a month after MLS announced its requirement for each team to establish a youth amateur program.

Current status of each teams Youth Program – 1 year later (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=635821) which was started last month.

Interestingly I've heard the Galaxy chose to pay a fine rather than field teams in the USSF academy league this year. Some have claimed because it was cheaper to pay the fine while others seem to attribute it to other reasons. Don't know if it is true or not. Anyone else here this?

It seems the Galaxy don't care about youth development at all! As for Chivas USA, I know at least 2 kids from the high school I work at that play for one of their 6+ teams! They have got it down! Oh and they do have to pay to play though!

Can't be as much as the david beckham academy or one of the other clubs galaxy call their reserve squad.
