True, but he made saves at crucial points that average goalkeepers would not have made.
He knew what you meant. It's just that like most Italians/Serie A fans, he has hard time comprehending the thought that there might be someone out there better then the almighty Buffon.

good to hear, I always think of his display last year in the san siro, it was epic, i thought.
nah, not 10M pounds, i think milan will go for cheaper, maybe amelia, one of the diegos (alves, lopez, cavalieri) or lloris if i had to bet. then again, what do i know. :D
It looks like we got him. (http://www.firenzeviola.it/?action=read&idnotizia=21931) Can anyone give me a report?

What about Frey? It would be an absolute waste to use any of them as subs. Cavalieri is my favorite brazilian goalkeeper - I'm a goalkeeper myself, but I play futsal tho -, I rate him higher than Rogério Ceni, an absolute legend in Brazil, and probably about as good as Julio Cesar right now. He also has an italian passport, so you don't have to worry about the non-euro spot.

Thanks for that. There have been rumors about selling Frey to Milan even if our club denies it. Do you happen to know if Cavalieri has an Italian (or European of any kind) passport? If not, I could see the club loaning him out for a season until that is squared away.

If I'm not mistaken his mother is italian and he already has an italian passport. I'm not 100% sure tho.

yeah, i thought when milan was linked to him on milannews.it, that it specifically mentioned he has an EU passport.
that is great news, though, I think...because it means fiorentina is probably looking to get rid of frey (for a profit, of course), and that means that maybe milan will possibly finally have a good goalkeeper again if he is the destination...At least, I hope that is what is happening. :)

Buffon. It doesn't require a brain surgeon to work this one out.

I think Frey is every bit as good as Buffon.

I think after Casillas and Buffon, it's Frey, Cesar and Enke.

There are rumors of Frey being sold to either Milan or Bayern Munich this summer. If either happens then by this time next year everyone will agree with me. I'd rather be thought a fool and keep Frey, though.

Frey is up there with the world's best but he isn't equal with Buffon. By making that comment, you are implying that he is up there with a goalie that could go down as the greatest of all-time, even greater than Zoff.

NOME G Min GA Svs
Buffon 30 2690 26 82
Frey 30 2665 30 96
They look pretty similar to me though I'm a lover, not a math major.
And frankly, dor02, your point is ridiculous and a bit insulting. You may be able to use those sorts of debate tactics on 16-year-olds but I'm not 16. I have never stated that Frey's body of work is greater than Buffon's. The question is 'Who is the world's best goalkeeper?' rather than 'Which current goalkeeper has a chance to go down as the best goalkeeper of all time?'

Buffon is still #1, although Casillas is catching up.

Which leagues do you watch? I'm assuming that you watch all of them to make such a statement. All I watch is Serie A (on seriea.tv) since January so all that I can intelligently comment on is Serie A. How many times have you seen Frey this season? How many times have you seen Fontana this season?

come on nick, fontana is a good veteran keeper going through a great bit of form, he is nowhere near casillas over a longer period of time, though.

I don't think he is. I'm just saying how would Yanez know? I don't know if there is some guy in Japan or Russia who blows Frey and Buffon out of the water. All I'm saying is that, right now, Frey is as good as Buffon. Obviously it is folly for anyone to say anyone is the best because no one watches every one. We can only speak to the guys we watch. It's easy to say Buffon is the best because everyone says Buffon is the best.

Even if Frey is equal with him AT THE MOMENT, Buffon still destroys him career-wise.
