Show a mistake he makes. The man is a machine, he is sublime, nearly perfect, and although he doesn't have the length of career yet to brand him this - he WILL be considered the greatest ever keeper one day.
The exact same can be said about Casillas. In fact, Casillas has been the better of two these two past seasons. He was even recently voted the best keeper by the leading 10 sports publictions in Europe except for the Italian Gazzetta Dello Sport who for voted for Buffon[Obviously]. Like Gazzetta Dello Sport, Itlians will almost always go for Buffon.

another cech blunder today.
on current form alone he shouldn't be anywhere near anyone's top 10 but on his past form he's hanging in there, but only just.

To say Buffon and Casillas is just very wrong. England has a history of producing and developing world class goalkeepers and would honestly pick Carson and Given above these two. English football is so fast paced you have to be of a very high standard to stand out over here, and these two do.

On top being extremely biased towards England and the Premiership, Shay Given isn't even English!

you can also add in the fact that a lot of newcastle season ticket holders would prefer to see steve harper between the sticks just now shows what kind of season given has had this year.

he's been playing well as of late in the SPL and was outstanding yesterday in the scottish cup.
i felt that in the second leg in the camp nou he could have done better with xavi's goal but overall his form has been of a high standard.
the league title race is set to go to the wire this season which will benefit artur as i reckon he'll be more focused. i think his one main problem can be his concentration at times in matches, particularly in the SPL, where celtic can stroll through certain games. he usually always shows up well in the CL and i know he's been in good form for his national team as well recently.
reports still surface of milan's interest in him. do you think milan would be prepared to pay around £10mill for his services in the summer?

Someone said that people only choose the best keepers from the best teams and forget about the keepers in the lower leagues....
Now let me ask you... if for example Stekelenburg from Ajax would be so much better then Casillas of Buffon, don't you think he would at LEAST play at a bigger team...?
Now the discussion can go on forever... and I'll choose Casillas, and not only b/c I'm a Real Madrid fan...
Buffon might've won a world cup, but I'm sure Casillas would've done it with that defence in front of him (Zambrotta, Nesta, Cannavaro, Grosso), it's the best defence in the world (at least it was at that point...)
BUT!!!! did Buffon win a champions league when he was 19??
Sure Buffon is worldclass and will be listed in numerous "Best keeper ever" lists... but so will Casillas....
The difference? age for starters, Casillas is 5 (I believe) years younger, and a carrying force of Madrid...
Also, if we take a look at the ESM lists, Buffon was selected best keeper in september, with !!2!! votes.... I think this is the lowest number any of the 36 players selected over the last few months has gotten with a selection... Of course it's understandable b/c in the first month of competition alot of keepers might preform good so the votes would automatically be divided...
Then we have Casillas, who has gotten the votes during 3 other months (somewhere in between, Julio Cesar has gotten the ESM keepers' spot) and has gotten a total of 18 votes during those 3 months (I didn't count months in wich he wasn't elected)...
Now I think the ESM TOTM is a pretty good reference to c who the best players are... since a magazine of almost EVERY big competition votes...
So it's simple: Casillas at the moment, should Gigi get alot of votes and selections the comming months (wich I doubt) he could replace casillas, but I don't see Gigi keeping Casillas from the spot, especially b/c he's 16 votes behind.
I keep a list of all the elected players every month (have one big list separated in GK, DF, MD, ATT) and I add the votes every month, to make the dream team at the end of the month...
And of course Italy choses Buffon for januari, I think they've chosen him EVERY month but one (think Frey was elected then)...just b/c he's italian...
I think it would be a much better discussion who's the best comming GK talent?? (to have some variation on the Gigi-Iker discussion)
I'm in doubt between Igor Akinfeev (russia), Manuel Neuer (Germany) and Kameni (Nigeria I think...?)

Casillas was at fault for Vucinic's goal last week...

No. Is there an unwritten rule somewhere saying good goalkeepers only play for the big teams? And isn't Ajax a big team? I can give you tons of examples of great goalkeepers who have never played for the football giants, but I won't, you're just wrong here.

good to hear, I always think of his display last year in the san siro, it was epic, i thought.

nah, not 10M pounds, i think milan will go for cheaper, maybe amelia, one of the diegos (alves, lopez, cavalieri) or lloris if i had to bet. then again, what do i know. :D

I'd have to say Casillas is in best form now. I didn't see much of Buffon last year since he was playing in Serie B. Truth be told, if Casillas wasn't in between the sticks for Madrid I'm sure they would not have won last years title and that to me makes him number one.

Of course, noone can win a league without a goalkeeper.

True, but he made saves at crucial points that average goalkeepers would not have made.
