Enough of feeling sorry for ourselves. Let's get on with the next one. Been very depressing, all these draws. But life must go on. Since the next league match is against Aston Villa a week on Monday, I'd choose a reasonable strong line-up. Probably start Torres on the bench.

Martins Torres Pennant Hobbs SG

If that lot cant do for a bankrupt 3rd tier team at home .....

i base those picks on who was rested or on the bench today v Boro and that jc needs a day off.

I'd like to see Babel start on top as well Just to see how he'd do in that central position. Kuyt or Crouch with him (right now I don't rate either of them good enough for EPL) That means 'young' Harry on the left and (even younger) El Zhar on the right.
El Zhar was pretty decent when he played against Cardiff.

Yossi should never start for us unless we're desperate. He immediately went into hiding this last match, Finnan could have used some help at times, as could the strikers.

My prediction is 5-0. I could see us taking out our frustrations on Luton. Hopefully a good thrashing will give this team some confidence.

Kuyt Crouch I'd love to see Skrtel get a run out, but the Russian league is on break so he's not match fit. They say 10 days until he's ready for a match. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N158382080111-1622.htm

I like your line-up and I would absolutely love for Insua to get a game. An FA Cup tie against Luton is perfect for the youngster to wet his feet a little bit.

I want us to get a few goals and get the confidence of the squad up...if players like Babel, Crouch, Kewell, Pennant can have good attacking games, either scoring, assisting or creating many chances then this will lift our squads confidence also. I want Xabi to start and get his confidence back as he is still looking a bit rusty with his first touch, which when it is good, gives him that extra time to make his passes. If we can have Xabi on form and making these passes, then there is less deep-play responsibility on SG, therefore letting him get closer to the strikers and be more dangerous around the box for 90 minutes, rather than a few instances.

Im hoping for this lineup...the main things that i want to see is for Agger to start, Babel to start up front and Xabi to start...the rest...i dont care who starts. Any lineup we have should easily beat Luton, yet we like to make things difficult. With Aurelio/Kewell on the left and Finnan/Pennant on the right we have our 4 best crosses of the ball, which will work best with Crouch up front (despite his inability to head the ball into the net). Two genuine wingers will also help Xabi's game as he likes to play the wingers into dangerous positions around the box, which is exactly what we need.

^^^^ I like this lineup. I think this replay is a blessing in disguise and we need to use it to absolutely take apart Luton a la Besiktas, Marseille, Tolouse, etc. This will give the players their confidence back and get a few that have been out of sorts (Xabi, Kewell, Pennant) back in form. I also would love to see what Babel does up front with a start there.

5-0 to the good.

with this lineup:

Finnan___Carra__Agger__Aurelio

Pennant__Masch__Xabi__Kewell

________Crouch__Babel_____

i predict being down a goal at halftime, thanks to Aurelio and Kewell, who will let Calvin Andrew in alone on Itandje.

then Benitez can bring on Gerrard and Torres at the 60 minute mark, Liverpool will level and win aet on penalties, 4-3.

there will be extreme pressure on Liverpool and none on Luton Town. they have show the ability to play with Liverpool for 90 minutes.

Please say your kidding?

Luton Town has been losing players since we last played them, they will be in disarray. I think we will be fine.

2-0 to the good.

Apologies if I've missed something, but since when is Pennant fit? Wasn't he projected to be out 10 weeks like a month ago?

The expected date that he would be fit was January 2nd and that was correct when he returned, vs Wigan on Jan 2nd.

I am glad this game is almost upon us. It will enable me to get over the last 2 performances. The replay is actually a blessing in that respect as waiting until next Monday for the Villa game would be too long.

Luton at Anfield should be (on paper) an easier match than our recent home fixtures. I think Rafa will play a very strong side including Torres as there is almost an entire week to recover. Get a secure lead and then perhaps take off Torres. If we get into the next round we have an easier tie (on paper) in the next round and we can play more youngsters in that tie.

Hopefully Agger will start and could be replaced late on by Hobbs if we are in a strong position.

At least this match cannot finish with another draw (as then a pen shootout will decide the winner). Let's get into the 4th Rd with an emphatic win.

Agger had an injury setback, so we won't be seeing him. Wouldn't mind seeing Hobbs.

I oppose starting Torres. Absolutely oppose it. If only because if he were to be injured, the heat on Rafa would turn up considerably, and no one wants that.

Run out the same team which tied Luton, only insert Lucas.

Then realize that when we start Crouch, he'll have the message loud and clear: you aren't in our plans in REAL games. I expect him to score twice, and be out the door.

Even though I want to see Torres (because he's just about the only entertaining thing about this team at the moment) he should be rested. If we cannot win this game without him then we simply don't deserve to move on. Thats all.

3-0 to the 'pool. Crouch brace and a late one from Babel.
