just woundering if the worst was to happen and we did lose a manager to newcastle for a second time who would be everyones favorate to come in. My personal choice would be martin jol, sounds strange but could be what rovers need at this moment in time.

I've no opinion on who I would want as manager... although I wonder at some of Hughes decisions this season, I still have great faith in his abilities. I think we all know that Hughes won't be staying around forever. The rumor is that in order for him to take over when Sir Alex leaves, Hughes will need some experience with a "bigger" club. Hence the Newcastle thingy.

Apart from stadium capacity and fanbase, how are Nuke Hassle a bigger club? We're performing better than they are this season, and Newcastle is a big pile of cack.

As always, they're good in attack, then for some reason, having spent millions upon millions on attacking midfielders and strikers, they spend Coco Pops vouchers on defenders.

That club needs to be stripped down to the bone, and re-commenced, if it is ever to be saved. Mark Hughes is not an idiot - if he were, he would take the job. I think he's got more sense than to inherit a pile of shite, to be honest. You can disguise a turd, but essentially, it'll still smell like Newcastle.

I'm not that worried about Newcastle. If he wasn't interested in the Chelski job I can't see him going for this. It's like the poison chalice of football management and I think he's got too much sense than to go for it. I think he likes it at Ewood too, he has a good relationship with the board and he's just waiting for old red nose to retire.

I heard Mike Ashley, the chairman of Newcastle Utd, saw an elderly lady
carrying two heavy bags crossing the road.
"Can you manage love?" he asked.
"Sod off" she replied, " I don't want the job either!"

Anyway, I'd go for Martin Jol too, one of the few likeable people in football and a decent manager. Not too sure about his rotation policies but there are a lot worse managers out there.

Apart from having better players and being higher up in the table, how are Manchester United a better team then Derby County?

FWIW, I heard from someone who's paid to know these things that Hughes wants the Newcastle job. Make of that what you will.

The Daily Sport is not a reliable source.

Manchester United play brilliant football, and have more fans than any other club on the planet. They have a massive stadium, and a lot of respect from other clubs. They have a trophy cabinet that would make God's look small. They are a big club.

Newcastle have a big stadium, and they have loads of fans, but that's only because there are no other teams in Newcastle. Manchester, Birmingham, London and Liverpool all have to compete for fans - Newcastle don't, hence they fill their ground. They steal our players and managers. They have won nothing in their time except for the Fairs Cup and the FA Cup (once I believe). How the FCUK are they a BIG club. Weekly, they show everyone watching English football how NOT to defend. It frustrates me in the same way as Spurs do, that some, "big," clubs think they have a God-given right to be up there, challenging for the title.

Derby County are just crap.

They are an excellent example of how not to reach your potential.

They've always annoyed me too, well not so much them but more the way the media love them. Even when we were winning the league the media always sucked up to the glorious Toon, and in the years following it's always been the same. But, when it comes down they've won nothing for 38 years, in fact we're pretty much on a par for trophies full stop.

As for their famous Toon Army, while they're a good set of fans, I'm sure if we only had 4 other teams to compete with support for, including Darlington and Hartlepool, we might get a few thousand more.

Yeah, it annoys me too. Newcastle and Spurs should be big clubs and the media would dearly love them to be but they're just not.

Well, thankfully it's all over, Keegan has been appointed manager of Newcastle.

It's all over, Keegan will be the new manager of Newcastle. Their massively ambitious owner wanted them to play like they did under Keegan so he's done a clever thing there. No doubt they'll be hoping he can add to his impressive list of managerial trophies, which is ermm ... the Fizzy Pop Championship with Fulham I think.

Unfortunately for the press they were just guessing again. Hughes will not be moving from the footballing backwater of Blackburn to the massive club that is Newcastle, they'll just have to keep on turning up at Ewood for a while longer.

Sorry, I'm bitter too ;)

You're right. It was almost as though he was publicly inviting Newcastle to come and get him. He didn't refuse the possibility at all, did he?

God - Newcastle do more shopping in Blackburn than Rovers fans do.

Yeah it was you're right. Did Keegan win the old second division with Fulham then? Either way is illustrates my point even more.

I had a bit of a rant about Newcastle yesterday but I don't actually mind them. They massivley underachieve for such a well supported club, but i've got no problems with them as such. It's just the way the media portray teams like them, and more to the point how they portray us in comparison. It's a bit disrespectful to immediately think managers at teams like us and Portsmouth would love to go to the Newcastles of the world. Man U, Liverpool etc fair enough but not Newcastle. We have, after all, had more success than them in the Premier League.

Gives me something to moan about though ;)

You're only moaning if no one agrees.

Once Newcastle win the league, or maybe even a couple of cups, then I will respect them as a club. Until then, they can sod off if they think they deserve even half the coverage they seem to be given by the media.

Don't get me wrong. I hate Arsenal, Man United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham (God damn, I hate them Spurs) more than I hate Nuke Hassle. The difference is, all of the aforementioned clubs have actually won things before the moon landing, therefore, with the exception of Tottenham (whom I hate so very, very much), and the aforementioned Geordies, I have respect for all those clubs.
