According to Belize coach Wilfredo Levy, "We fell to Costa Rica because our system failed, and because one player didn't close down space."

No team loses 15-0 because one player failed to do his task they assigned him.

Apparently some tempers flared after the Jamaica-Cuba match:

http://www.jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20031013/sports/sports3.html

"After the game, several players got involved in a heated exchange with Trinidadian referee Noel Bynoe on the field and had to be separated by Jamaica's captain and central defender, Shavar Thomas, and some members of the team.

Despite the intervention of the Jamaicans in shielding the referee, one Cuban, Mikael Galindo, obviously thought he had not gotten enough satisfaction and took matters into his own hands by hitting Bynoe with a plastic bottle."

He is an ex-US international that coached in MLS for a while and I think he is originally from Uruguay.

His most recent (only) coaching experience was with the New England Revolution of MLS. He was sacked last year at mid-season after a # of poor results with what most people thought was a very talented team.

To bring his coaching skills into doubt, the Revolution went on to win their Conference in MLS and made it to the finals of the Cup Playoffs losing 1-0 on a golden goal at the end of extra time.

Why didn't Levy sub out that guy after the 14th goal?

Clavijo was born in Uruguay. He played in the MISL in the 80s, playing for the San Diego Sockers, Los Angeles Lazers and St. Louis Storm. He became a US citizen in 1987. Clavijo earned his first cap with the USMNT in 1990 vs. the Soviet Union. He eventually would go on to play for the US in 61 internationals including three games in the '94 WC.
In 1999 he became the coach of the Revolution in MLS, until (I think) 2002.
