View Full Version : Sam for England Number 2?

Why not?
It would be the perfect grooming process!
He apparently gave a good account of himself at the last round of interviews and we all want an English manager eventually, don't we?
He's available, he's one of the best we've got (Ingerlish), Stuart Pearce is a nonse - why couldn't the FA offer him a significant role in the set-up?
Capello can be Queen and Sam the Prince Regent.......:)
Works for me!

No a bad idea, really. Only thing I see in it's way is Capello. I have a feeling that Sam would be #2 in title only. Capello will have his own #2.

I wouldn't mind it, but from what I hear, Capello and Pearce have already developed a good relationship.

Pearce is not a 'main man' and never will be, he's a lifelong assistant - he's just another McSven!
Sam has done it at the top level, he'll gain huge experience from working with a proven European winner, while 'banking' International experience!
I say give him a call now - Sir Trevor 12 o levels Brooking - Sam could also bring huge acceptance of Capello, just so long as he learns to tread the the number 2 steps and not try to outdo the GUY........:)

Can't see Allardyce accepting it to be honest. He's very much his own man with his own ideas and I doubt being a number 2 (and what in all likelihood is going to be a token gesture of a number 2) would suit him.

I like Sam, but if he was brought in to the system I''m sure the FA would make him the number one man eventually ( at the end of the capello era) and i don't want him to ever be our manager.

I think Big Sam will want to get straight back into club work.

Sam wouldn't fit in as number 2, he's to much of a personality to sit around without being able to make final decisions, a bit like Tel, under McSven you could see him sometimes on the bench looking at McSven, looking like he wanted to say "what the fook are you doing?".
Better that Cap has his own assistant that he's familiar with and that has always been a number 2, so that there's no conflict.

why would capello want brash, arrogant, loudmouth, tactical novice on his team, let alone as his first assistant? he has already had stuart pearce thrust on him by the fa, the 'man on the inside', who is going to bring about as much value to the set up as a polythene bag. furthermore, i thought the whole point of appointing a non english manager was to try to move away from the long bore (sorry, ball), village idiot school of football that british managers are so in love with. why on earth would spending big money on such a firm advocate of the 'british style' aid the process of moving us into line with the rest of the world, allowing us to once again compete with such powerhouses as croatia, russia, switzerland and poland, all of whom have made it to euro 2008.
add to this, what would fat sam get out of the post, except for another wadge of cash stuffed into his fat sweaty palms. he aint gonna learn nothing from the experience. will he suddenly grow a brain? highly unlikely. he could spend a lifetime as capellos assistant and still play the same physical, aerial rubbish when he took over a new club. also, with england, its a bit more difficult to get bungs, being as there are, no transfers involved. what would fat craig allardyce live off without the back handers his dad sorts him out with? poor boy would starve.
final point: i read above that sam 'impressed the fa during his interview'. excuse me? how the hell is that a good thing? how is being on the same footballing wavelength as brian barwick anything to be proud of? the man is a total moron, which seems to be the one qualification necesary to gain employment at the fa. praise from these tossers is an insult in my books.

Oh fcuk me no, I can already hear the calls for el Permo...............:(
The FA employ Crapello, so they are the ones who should be insisting we groom an Englishman, if he don't like it, tell him to fcuk off back to nowhere, where he came from...........even the sweaties are having a swipe at us now, cheeky, ginga cvnts, wot abaht Bertie, eh??????????????

to equate the aspirations of Bolton Wanderers with those of the English national team is a bit of a stretch.

That's not quite the point, his criticism was based entirely on Allardyce's 6 months at Newcastle.

not quite, prenn. i pointed out allardyces qualities as a person, and his like of back handers, and his intolerable style of basic as ******** no brainer football. this was based almost entirely upon his time at bolton, in fact, i paid almost no attention at all to his tenure at newcastle, either in my argument or in the actual time he spent there. he was doomed to failure before he even took the job. geordie fans would be hard pressed to put up with that kind of football if they were winning, let alone if they were to struggle at any point, and lets face it, fattie sam does not have the mental aptitude or the strategic awareness to instruct a side to produce consistent results at the top end of any top flight league in europes elite.

That's quite hard to say given that the only chance he's had to prove that was half a year at Newcastle, a club that's competing with six or seven others for a couple of places in the league.
You don't take a club like Bolton to the top ten of the Premier League for four seasons by playing basic, one dimensional football.
And what's worse is I can't believe I'm defending the fat bastard but your rant does seem to be the very worst that the Southern Media has thrown at Bolton over the last few years (Since West Ham went down actually).

Because he's a bad-PR timebomb waiting to explode, him and 'Arry. Panorama'll be all over them like a rash.
Incidentally, do you realise that you've accused Stuart Pearce of being a child molester?
