Wow...shocking.

Not sure how I feel about this, though some of you will be overjoyed.

We should wait for a statement from the club site before we deem anything official, but this is distressing news to say the least.

This is ridicoulous. Allow the man to rebuild a club. Half a season. Jesus.

It does say mutual agreement, however I feel Allerdyce was forced out not only by management but by some players.

WTF?!

Breaking news from Tyneside on Wednesday afternoon that Newcastle have parted company with Sam Allardyce - this has now been confirmed.

Wow.

I hope Ashley has a new man already. My guess is his money woo'ed a big name foreign coach. No wonder they wouldn't open the purse for Sam.

I have a bad feeling that they have Shearer lined up. He is not the man for the job!

Let's throw some names about...

Shearer
Jol
McClaren
Mourinho
Lippi
Hitzfeld
Klinsmann

I can't believe Roeder got a season and a half, and Sam only got 24 games. That's utter bullshit, unless Ashley has some well-decorated manager in the wings. Ah, well, guess we better start the manager silly season.

Potential unattached managers
Lippi
Mourinho
Jol
Shearer
Klinsmann

Potential attached managers
Coppell
Boothroyd

Deschamps
Louis van Gaal

Maybe the Collins fella who left Hibs, though he's not high profile enough. Van Gaal, as Jared told me in IM, might be one as well. Otherwise we could always hire Keane with Shearer as his number one to learn the ropes from him. :D

We're the new Real Madrid in terms of firing managers left and right. Congratulations, we've matched a Big Club in something.

This is ridiculous. A shame, really.

im sure they've lined up some other second-rate british manager who hasnt a chance in hell of attracting any kind of talent to the club.

klinnsman will not be a candidate. his name might get bandied about simply because he's a big name, but he won't be leavingcalifornia. he and his wife had an agreement he would settle in southern california after his playing days were over. the guy wouldn't even move back to germany full time to work with the national team.

Marcelo Lippi could easily become the new Bobby Robson for Newcastle, Mike Ashley has the money so if Newcastle go out and get some second rater like McClaren, Bruce, Redknapp then that would be foolish.

Went home to check on my dog, flipped fsc on and skysports had the "Breaking News" they said rumors started about 5:30 pm, reporters asked Sam about it and he said it was news to him he better go check on it. 20 minutes later he got the official sack, ehem, mutual seperation. Pretty crappy he was the last to know.

I'll reserve judgement depending on who is hired, but on face value, I didn't like the results, effort, or tactics, but we were pretty much free of relegation and I was willing to give him time.

I mean I suppose I can reserve my judgement until I hear who we are going to appoint, but if it isn't made by next Friday, I will say this is an atrocious move. I was hoping, despite not being in favor of him fromt he start, that Sam would have at least a year and a half to try to get things right. It's very dissapointing to say the least. If we appoint Steve McCLareN I will personally hunt Mike Ashley down.

This is not good. I haven't had the chance to see many games, but at least give the guy a chance to run the team for the whole season. I am interested to see who they bring in next.
I hope it isn't Shearer. Don't get me wrong, he was great as a player, but where has he ever managed? Being a great player doesn't always make you a great coach or manager.
