So it looks like Robbie's going to Derby. Good luck to him, he's been good for us and I hope it works out for him ... plus we got a lot of cash for a 33 year old!!
Interestingly though. Just been talking to some Derby fans here and apparently a lot of them are very unhappy. They even said they fully expect him to be booed when he first plays for them. Disgusting or what? We thought we were bad for booing Treacey when he had a bad game, they want to boo him before he even kicks a ball.
They must just believe the media hype about him and not realise the type of player he is. From what I saw a couple of weeks ago he's head and shoulders above the rest of their midfield.

i would not be very supprised if he did get booed, i booed him before he came here but didnt realise what a good player he was. He is going to get a very good reception when he comes back to ewood.

I saw him interviewed on Sky Sports News earlier, he said he probably would be signing for Derby.
Unfortunately for Robbie, he has bad history with Derby fans, apparently he dived for a penalty that got Derby relegated, he celebrated in front of Derby fans, goading them.It will be interesting to see how they receive him in their team!

Yeah he's got a history when he played for Liecester. There's been a small protest outside the ground. I can accept they're not too impressed with his past. What gets me is that their saying he's not good enough either, from whawt I saw at Christmas he's head and shoulders above anything they've got.
Anyway, good luck to him, in 6 months they'll love him.

i was just wondering.. is there a reason on why he is transferring? is he unsettled at blackburn or did he hand in a request?

I don't know, but if I were to guess, I'd say that he's been told he doesn't feature in Mark Hughes' future plans.

I was just looking at the league table... Derby dead last with 7 points. Is there any chance at all, with such low points, that they will *not* get relegated this season? (#19 Fulham 15 points / #18 Sunderland 17 points / handful at 20 points)

no chance of staying up they have gone and dont think fulham will stay up either which is hardly supprising as they have roy hogdson (spelling?) as manager. He was leargly responsible along with kidd for us getting relegated so he is going to get a good reception on his return to ewood not.

Aight then -- such as I thought. In that case, since it appears obvious that Robbie had his choice between Derby and Sunderland, why on earth would he choose a ship that is not only sinking, but is the Titantic of sunk ships?? It somewhat defies logic. Keane seems a half decent manager -- if not a tad volatile and opinionated, and at least Sunders has the *appearance* of trying to improve its position and thus avoid relegation. Whereas Derby, on the other hand.... good grief and egad!!

derby is a better supporting club than ours with great history and huge potential but from what i here sunderland did not meet the asking price

OK -- more understandable now. So, that is why we are getting 1.5 for Robbie over the 2.0 million. Well, the Derby fans hate him now, but I say give 'em a week or two and they will be quite keen on Robbie.
However... Robbie is a proud person. I wonder that he would go to Derby -- even with the history etc that you mention. I suspect that being relegated is very hard on a player, although in this case Robbie will definitely know that he wasn't directly responsible for Derby's demise. Frankly, Sav might be better off giving the MLS a chance.

Good call. I can see him doing well for five years in the MLS, but then again, from the lack of quality I've seen over there, I have a feeling I could score a couple of hat-tricks a season in that league.

I'd take a solid MLS squad vs. most Championship squads and expect they'd split a home and home.

I see what you mean... last Saturday's match versus Wigan had an attendance of 31,658. Of those, 1,735 were travelling Wigan fans.
PS Robbie is acting as Derby's Captain...

So Joe Cannon has single-handedly lowered my expectations of that league, then?

Ooh, thems fightin' words. What's wrong with Joe Cannon? Single-handedly saved our season in 2004, and had a pretty good showing in 2005. His age is catching up to him though, his last two years haven't been as good.

Well that's the problem right there. I have only really taken notice of Emma Less since the arrival of D-Beck.

Ah, well if you're basing your opinion of MLS on last year's Galaxy I can see why you made your comment. ;)
Check out a game between DC United and the Houston Dynamo. Probably the two best squads in the league right now.

During the Emma Less season, there was a programme commissioned on Channel 5 in the UK called, "David Beckham: Soccer USA," wherein Tim Lovejoy (the ex-presenter of Soccer AM) called on all viewers to choose a team to back. He chose the Kansas City Wizards because they play in blue, like his beloved Chelsea.
I chose LA Galaxy to take an interest in because I think David Beckham, in his prime, was the closest thing England had to a God. Then Wayne Rooney came in and showed us how it was done.
The thing that stops me taking a massive interest in American soccer, though, is the lack of history. The history of the English game is rich vast. When teams compete in the FA Cup, I know that players have been trying to win it for a hundred-and-fifty years, and that means something to me - being part of history.

Actually the U.S. Open Cup (Our version of the FA Cyp) was first awarded in 1914, making it the oldest Cup competition in America. Unfortunately it doesn't get the coverage like the league does, so you don't hear much about it.
