Thought I'd start the thread.
Predictions, thoughts?
Should be a hard one, but after my travel nightmare coming home from West Ham on Saturday I am looking forwards to a nice 30 minute journey home, its just the Scotland Road walk that will be a bit dodgy. :D
Oh, and I ordered my Man United away tickets today. Cant wait, come on the blues. :D

Probably our most important fixture in January as Everton trail by three points only. A win would be excellent and give us a nice 6 point buffer over them. Its going to be difficult, to say the least, to go in there and snatch a victory from them. They have a class keeper in Howard, who is having an above average year. Wish I could've seen the West Ham game to analyze Castillo and his presence in the team a little bit more.

Well, it is one of the toughest fixtures for City. We are fighting for that UEFA cup spot with Everton, assuming Liverpool will take 4th eventually. We've done well against Everton historically, 61 Wins, 42 Draws, and 57 Losses. However, it is a goodison park and Everton just came out of a shameful defeat in the hands of League One team Oldham. I remember we lost to Oldham 3 years ago............. boy was that shameful.
I think a draw would be the best that we can do. I doubt we will win this game. I am praying for a draw. One upside though, Everton will be tired from its Carling Cup match vs Chelsea, so if a few injury happens here and there, we might get lucky.
Draw..............

you got some guts going to Old Traford as a City Supporter. Don't you risk getting killed? I imagine you will be outnumbered 20:1. How many City fans usually appear at Old Traford historically? I am guessing a few thousand at the most.

I wish that too, haven't seen any highlights either. I'm hoping that Fox Sports World will show something tonight, but I'm not holding my breath.
I suspect that the Everton match will be a difficult one, but we want this one more, so we will be out to win.
Great for our away supporters - a shorter trip than West Ham!
Come on you Blues

We are going to see a small version of the Mex vs USA rivalry when Nery scores against Howard. I love soccer.

This will be the only, ONLY situation in which I want a Mexican striker to put a shot past an American goalkeeper.

it happened so many times before, shouldn't you be use to it by now? ha ha ha, I'm only kidding.
USA's done well vs Mexico in the last 3 meetings. However, I was curious enough to look at the overall history, Mexico's has dominated the rivalry.

Yes we have, but we need to pick it up as of late.
I think this is the first time a Mexican striker has played against an American striker in Europe, hopefully Nery has a good game and puts a couple past Howard.
Not only will Nery's confidence go up for Man City but also when he meets Howard again Feb 6.

Okay, now as a partisan in this argument, Mexico might have it historically, but if you look at, say, the last five years, that's not true.
We beat them in the Gold Cup (think Euro Championships) final. We beat them to go to Germany. We beat them in the round of 16 in Korea. We beat them all the damn time now. And we do it in front of 70,000 people, 90% of whom are pulling for Mexico IN THE US.

You are quite right. In the past 6 years, USA and Mexico had 8 meetings, and USA dominated the rivalry with a record of 6 wins 1 draw and 1 loss. USA also outscored Mexico 11-3. This is quite an accomplishment against a team that is currently ranked 15th on the FIFA ranking table.
I live in Canada and I think USA and Canadian men's team face the same delimma. Whenever we play on home soil, we always have more than enough away supporters such that it doesn't even feel like a home game, especially in Cities like Toronto. When Canada plays Mexico in 2 legs, it feels like 2 away game. It's actually quite sad. However, I think when USA plays in Foxbro, the atmosphere feels like home. Just don't have them in California, you might as well play in Mexico.
Anyways, this is way off topic, we can take this to the USA forum.

That's the impression I got when I hear about Nery, that it's all about him and City have been relying on good morale lately to stay in the top 4 of the table (which most people thought would have ended a quarter of a season ago). He's a great player is what I've heard, but if he has a bad attitude and is very self centered when playing here he better count on spending his next game on the pitch back in Ukraine. (I don't think Sven will let him go crazy with his character though. I think he may even make Nery become a more mature player.)

Hello Citeh fans, looking forward to our game on Saturday. Sort of a big'un.
Just a bit of news on our end. Yobo, Yakubu and Pienaar have all gone to Ghana but Arteta will return after suspension (yes!).
We should line up like this;
Howard
Hibbert - Jagielka - Lescott - Baines
Neville - Carsley - Fernandes(?) - Arteta
Cahill
Johnson
I put a question mark over Fernandes as it's not been confirmed he has signed yet but most are reporting he will play. Carsley will man-mark Elano and hopefully stop them surges through the midfield.

Nery can't be that much of a me player if he put up some of his own cash to get the loan to go through... Mexico always beats us in Mexico, We always beat them in the US, neutral- well that's when it actually matters. It's an overblown rivalry by my estimation, and thats mostly because US soccer, truely isn't that popular, but I digress. On Sat, As far City is concerned... I'm all El Tri.

-------------Hart--------
Onouha----Dunne--Richards--Ball--
---------Hamman--Corluka------
Ireland------Elano--------Petrov--
----------Castillo--------
This is what I think the line-up should be and most likely will be.

Cahill is a sneaky one. But I am very confident that Man City will take at least one point.

I agree with you Castillo. He hasn't done anything spetacular since he was with Olympiacos. He's got tons of things to proof. If he screws this up, City has nothing to lose as we just give him back to Shaktar, but his reputation will stink and none of the big European clubs will ever take him seriously again.
On the other hand, based on your formation chart, if he's the lone striker, who cares if he has a "me" attitude. Feed him the stinkin ball, as long as it ends up in the back of the net, I couldn't care any less.

Yea, that's the rub. Is Nery a loan striker. I've only really seen him play for mexico, and even there he plays more like Elano. I have full confidence in Nery, with a system that plays the ball short, he's a no brainer. But I just can't see Nery getting to the end of deep goal kicks with Lescott or Jagielka on him, but then again neither can i see Vassel. But I'm sure Sven will come up with something! I think the ANC and the chelsea match has taken enough of a toll on em for us to get a win.
