I'm sure you all remember a year or so ago when Julio Cesar Caceres, a paraguayan defender, ended up leaving River at the end of his loan because he wasn't ready to accept losing money to do it. Well, apparently, he's willing to do it now... for Boca :mad::mad:

Ungrateful f***, we made him a better player and this is how he repays us, saying he'd love to play in Boca.

Cuando se daba por terminada la negociación, Julio César Cáceres se convirtió en el nuevo jugador de Boca Juniors. El paraguayo llegará el club xeneize a cambio de 2,5 millones de dólares.

Well it looks as if his transfer is going to go through. This guy in my book is nothing but a modern day piece of shit. I hope Abreu puts an elbow in his head as they're both going up for a header in the Torneo de Verano Superclasico.

I bet it was VIP. He's probably in love with Boca bringing in Caceres.

Relax m8. I had nothing to do with it, nor know who merged them ... nor do I like that threads created by users are merged with BSB's news cables. I think it takes away the initiative for creating threads from our users.

In any event, Mega's thread was to b*tch at Caceres, while BSB's should had been posted in the Boca forums.

PS: What do you guys think, after the tie with Independiente, can you guys defend the Copa de Verano title? Last year you also tied with Independiente and won the Cup.

Here's a post from my blog regarding the subject:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a256/locoxriver/caceres-1.jpg

Not to long ago, I had mentioned the possibility of an ex-River player joining Boca Juniors. Unfortunately, the undesirable became reality a few days ago, when Julio Cesar Caceres signed his contract with the Xeneizes, confirmed his arrival, and even tried on his new jersey.
The transfer of the Paraguayan to Boca has left a very bitter taste in the mouth of River Plate fans. Less than two years ago, he was our undisputed starting center-back, and was even chosen as captain of the team by Daniel Passarella. That same year, he received more minutes than almost any other player on the team, and also constantly received a standing ovation on behave of the fans. When his loan came to an end, Jose Maria Aguilar attempted to make his stay with los millonarios permanent, but Caceres was unhappy with his contract terms and decided to head over to Spain to join Gimnastic.

After his departure, River continued making gestures every six months to bring him back. I don't believe I have to state the final result of our efforts. But despite that, things were never as bad as they are now with Julio Cesar. How one can go from being idolized and being the captain of a team, to almost singlehandedly deciding to join their arch-rivals is beyond me. But perhaps the most unpleasant detail in this whole transfer is that he publicly stated that he would resign money to join Boca. Yes: we are talking about the same guy who left River in 2006 due to not being paid enough. In fact, Tigres initially rejected the Bosteros' proposals, yet JC's monotnous desire to wear Boca's jersey forced the Mexicans to back down and let him go.

My opinion of Caceres' skill has not changed one bit. I still see him as a talented defender with tons of experience (played in Europe, South America, and Mexico; participated in the World Cup), a strong personality, and good defensive characteristics. Honestly, though, the Paraguayan has let me down, and I fail to realize how one can be so cold-hearted and lack soul and respect towards the fans.

With that said, I hope he fractures his knee in the Torneo de Verano and never touches a ball again.

I fully intend to go to the stadium just to insult him. That is my one greatest desire right now

What about Charro Moreno? The best player in River history and the leader of La Maquina, and he ended his career at Boca.

The problem I see with River fans is that the failure to obtain titles has accelerated the need to "idolize" some of their players. In this case, Caceres played for 6 months!

Just as when this kid Sanchez played, I recall the chants of "chileno, chileno" in his first game. Despite the fact that we all know he is very talented, he could still be a pecho frio, or could make a u-turn and leave prior to the expiration of his contract. There definetely is a need to fill that lack of titles in River's fans.

I think idols are made with time. How can Caceres be anything more than a good defender that was captain, yet leaved the team prior to a crucial return leg in Asuncion? That was at the end of his first 6 months.

A player needs to win titles for the club ... or show, with time, that his skills and heart are with a club in order to become an idol. That never happened with Caceres at River because River was financially in chaos, and couldn't pay what Nantes asked for nor buy his transfer. Idol in six months?!?!?!

It's not about his potential idol status during his fleeting pass through the club, it's the fact that he accepted a reduced salary to come play for Boca while only 6 months, 1 year, and 1 year and a half ago he refused to do the same for River.

There's also a certain amount of respect that one should always keep in mind for former clubs. I can't recall right now, but one of our transfer targets last July said he couldn't accept coming to River because he'd played at Boca on loan.

That's true. If I was a fan of River I'd be pissed. But hell, we got a solid defender, so I don't care.

I don't want to make excuses for the guy, but does the fact that he is a foreigner mean that he should get a bit more slack than a player who grew up in Argentina feeling the Boca vs River rivalry?

Everyone and anyone who's gone through either River or Boca (And I'd wager more so if they've gone through River since the Superclasico is the ONLY thing we've managed to win in the past couple of years :o) should understand that rivalry.

I agree with you 100%. But had he been a true idol, it would be so much worse. My point is that Caceres can't be an idol at River, despite having been captain for a while, a move that I believe was made by Passarella to get him more involved with River. Had Veron ended up at River, I would feel the same as you guys do atm ... even if it was after a long long time.

We all know that being a captain involves identification with a club ... which Caceres never really had with River. El Kaiser knew that the $$ weren't there all along, so he tried sentiment as a tool to persuade him to stay in the long run. It didn't happen.

At least he didn't go directly from one to the other.

I am just saying it is different to understand it than to have it in your blood, so it's more inexcusable for an Argentine player than for a foreigner.

But I guess if it was the other way around and for example Morel would be going to River I might feel different.

Didn't Boca show some interest in Pipino too? I could be wrong but that's what I heard.

But even if it was true, I don't see Pipino ever going to Boca.
