Obviously the SPL is considered a lower-quality league than La Liga, but Hinkel was getting little playing time for Sevilla. Will his move to the Bhoys help or hurt his chances of getting more time on the Germany National Team heading into Euro 2008? Also, a bit off-topic, but is he cup-tied?

It's not the "standard" of the league or the "standard" of the club that we must look at, but what a player does during a game, and if he has the confidence to do exactly that in the national team jersey.

I think it's a good move for hinkel. He is not cup tied or else they wouldn't have bought him.

Lahm's a lock at RB, Friedrich is a decent backup as he can also play in the center. Castro should be the third choice RB, he's also quite versatile. Hinkel has to be pretty impressive if he wants to return to the nt in the next years.

Yes, he's cup-tied.

Barca if I'm not mistaken.

I think Hinkel should have moved sooner, there was no way he was going to displace Alves. This is actually a good move for him and a step in the right direction if he wants to redeem himself and save his career. He's not going to take Lahm's place of course but if he works hard he could push his way back into the fringes of the NT.

If he wanted to get back into the nt, I think Dortmund (or another Bundesliga club) would have been a better move, since Löw won't see much of him in Scotland. But compared to his place on the bench or even in the audience in Sevilla, Celtic will probably be an improvement.

I think he'll get his chances if he starts to have great, not only good games regularly.

Löw doesn't really think like Vogts or Völler imo.

Hinkel is irrelevant to the national team at this point. What he does at Celtic will affect him and his club.

I don't think he'll be a regular starter for the national team in the nearest future (no matter how well he'll be playing), since Lahm and my former Borussia darling Jansen surely will be seeded on both wings if they are fit.

To be honest, I don't care whether he'll play for the national team or not. For me it's important that he's playing well in the Hoops dress!

So welcome at Parkhead, dear Andy! :)
