Who do you guys rate higher --- or to paraphrase the question: who would you be more willing to sell?

Everybody was ready to anoint Carrick as Scholes' heir apparent last year but Anderson seems to have pipped him on that count. An Anderson-Hargreaves pairing looks really promising, but if Scholes was unavailable who would play (Carrick of Fletcher) in European games when United goes to a 4-3-3?

If we were to sell one Carrick would get a lot more money, but Carrick has potential that was shown last season, he is just lacking confidence at the moment. I still have hope that he'll come out of his current slump brilliantly.

They each offer different things. We should keep both.

If push came to shove I'd keep Carrick. I'd keep Fletcher as a guy to mark someone out of a game though.

neither have played up to our high standards this season. carrick has the potential to do so, fletcher doesn't.

Out of Carrick and Fletcher. I'd pick Carrick every single time. Fletcher doesn't offer us anything while Carrick does.

It's hard for me to say but I'd rather keep Carrick. We need to have different options and Carrick is our only DLP, while we have another runner in Hargreaves and he's much better at it than Fletcher.

Fletcher can offer us more but Ferguson hasn't allowed him to express himself enough. If this trend continues, I'd pray that Fletcher asks to leave. He can't continue to be as mistreated here.

Carrick without a 2nd thought.

I think carrick can regain his spot as one of our more valuable players. He needs some confidence.

Maybe not this season, but next, we will need another cm for a 4 3 3, and Scholes may not be able to do it next year.

Fletcher for sure, Carrick has been a major disappointment in my eyes. He aint that quick, his balls in are not that accurate, I do believe that Carrick might be our most overrated player. Besides we have serveral guys now Anderson, and Owen H. that do his job better than he does. I hear that Spurs want him back anyway, we should give him back and steal Berba.

Don't know what you mean by mistreated but I don't think he's mistreated. There's just better options than him right now.

I agree that he needs to leave. IMO he belongs on a mid level team in the EPL

He strikes me as a good player that trys hard but not Man utd material.

To me, Carrick has shown much more overall skill with the ball, I agree that Fletcher seems to be the better defensive option, but we're rock solid at the back and Hargreaves has showed me he can defend, sell Fletcher.

Carrick is our DLP. Fletcher has a very similar ideal role as that played by Hargreaves, and Hargreaves is superior. Fletcher would be much better than he has been this season if he saw consistent playing time; as he's been terrible lately, there's nothing at all favorable to him in the comparison to Hargreaves.

Also, I disagree with the original post that Carrick was the heir of Scholes; Carrick is (sort of) the heir of Keane. Scholes didn't have an heir last season, but now he has Anderson, if the kid continues to perform and develop.

It's not about better options. There were clearly times when he could have been played or even chosen for the bench. Also he's relegated to playing a central rather defensive role, and he's most comfortable playing a more attacking position also centrally or on the flanks. When he played there for us, he actually looked better than most of the time he's used exclusively as a "runner". If this continues to happen, it will most definitely hinder his progress and with recent aquisitions of Anderson, Hargreaves, and Nani and with Park's return, it looks even worse. He should just get out of here if he wants to rescue his career.

I have to say I've been pretty dissapointed with Carrick this season. He looks like a player feeling the heat. He's got Anderson and Owen coming in playing brilliantly and it looks like its taken its toll on him. His playing with out any confidence. With current form I take Fletcher for his defensive contributions. Hopefully for his sake he can sink a couple and recover. If not were pretty stacked in the middle. I'm stoked on Anderson. He's played far above my expectations of someone so young and so new to the prem.

I think it's time for Darren Fletcher to get the hell out of Manchester United. I know people will say that you have to grasp your few chances and make the most, etc., and that Fletch should have. But on the grand scheme of things, we've been shitting on him since he became part of the first team. Buying central midfielders left and right, playing him out of position, etc. Get out of here for your own sake Fletch, you're a starter anywhere outside the top 4.

What has Owen Hargreaves shown that Fletch hasn't already for us, btw? Was 17 million really worth it? Not in my opinion.

If hargo can keep juninho and Govou quiet then he is worth it. He was effective in the Fa cup tie against tottenham.

We can't say that until we actually play him in his natural role can we?
