Just reading the Setanta coverage, and a couple of interesting items.
They refer to it as the "McDonald's Community Shield." Oh, yeah? What are those guys, hysterical Americans? (Just a wink and a nudge. It's not an American thing, it's just the thought that the Scottish stereotype of frugality has come home to roost in the charity game.)
And, describing G. Silva's winner (or is it Gilberto S's winner?),
The Liverpool keeper had until then been the game's outstanding performer, ...but he had no answer to the Brazilian's daisy-cutter.
I suppose the "daisy cutter" is another Briticism I don't understand. In golf, we call it a worm-burner.
