Well, we get a minnow away in our debut of the FA Cup this season. Last year we also played a team high up the championship table (Birmingham) in the third round, and conceded a late equaliser on their home ground to force a replay, in which we were thrashed at SJP. A loss would almost surely see Sam sacked, as it would mean that we only have a dismal Premiership season to digest the rest of the way.

Stoke are extremely big - they have four attackers over 6-foot and love to score from set pieces - which may pose a bit of a problem for our defense. We've conceded the third-most goals from set-pieces in the Premiership this season and have a couple of foul machines in the center of the park should Smith and Butt both play, so how well we defend these could easily dictate our chances in the match.

For those in the USA, this match will be live on Fox Soccer Channel at 1 pm EST on Sunday. In the UK the game can be seen on BBC One.

And now, a partly political broadcast on behalf of the Tyneside reality party.

Take this as a rallying call - fans, players, whoever.

A place in the Fourth Round come 8pm Sunday would be a colossal boost to us - and a massive disappointment to those legions of national and local media leeches who continue to stick the boot into this club and its fans.

Let's hope they all end up with SWEET FA.

Support your team and wear those colours with pride.
This is the FA Cup. This is important.Dirt McGirt supports the preceding message.

Agreed. Still I'm optimistic that the squad can pull off a win. A win in the FA Cup will ease the pressure off the squad and they know it.

Well they look like Sunderland and they think they should beat us.

Stoke City F.C.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoke_City_F.C.)

Stoke City Football Club is a football club based in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Stoke is the second-oldest Football League club in the world as it was founded in 1863. The club plays in the Football League Championship, the second tier of English football.

The club’s nickname is The Potters (after the pottery industry in Stoke-on-Trent) and its home kit consists of a red & white vertical-striped shirt with white shorts and white socks. The club is currently owned by Kidsgrove Road Limited, a subsidiary of Bet365, with Peter Coates as the club's chairman. It was owned by Stoke Holding, from 1999 to 2006, which was in turn owned by a consortium of Icelandic businessmen. Coates completed his takeover on May 22 2006.

Stoke play their home fixtures at the Britannia Stadium, a 28,000 all-seater stadium. The stadium was opened in 1997; prior to this date Stoke had played at the Victoria Ground, which had been their home ground since 1878.

Stoke have not participated in the top flight, the Premier League, since the 1984-85 season when they were relegated with a total of 17 points, which would be a record low tally for twenty-one years. Stoke's first major trophy was won in the 1972 League Cup Final, when Stoke beat Chelsea F.C. 2-1 with goals from Terry Conroy, who is now employed at the club - and George Eastham who now lives in South Africa The club have won the Football League Trophy on two occasions, firstly in 1992 and then in 2000.

Decisions...Decisions. Newcastle wins, we get to the next round of the FA cup, which is great. Newcastle loses and Big Sam more than likely gets the boot. This is a hard one to figure out which way to go.

They must be feared. Not as much as WBA, Watford or Charlton mind you, but still...

I think I read it kicked off big time the last time the two clubs met in 95?

Thankfully, I'll be working and will only get to see the replay instead of watching us play the tighest game of our lives away. (If we were capable of actually playing it tight.)

Wow! A lot of strange scores this 3rd round. Premiership squads have not fared well at all against the lower league teams. Will Newcastle be fielding a full strength squad?

You know its on FSC right?

Pretty nervous ahead of this, for a number of reasons. The most obvious being the fact that I want something to hold onto for this season, a good cup run will be great for the fans. But even further it will be great for the players, adding confidence where it is greatly needed. And if we lose today I wouldn't be shocked if Sam is out, and I think that is the worst possible move that could be made unless we have an immediate, much better replacement. I don't see one around.

By the way, a criticism and an applause for Big Sam.

Duff on the right wing, poor.

Jose enrique given a chance against a lower team. Well done.

If I had read your location my response wouldn't have been so stupid. Good luck man! I'll try to keep you updated with impressions of the match if you can't get it going.

Zogs looks about one foot short of his normal pace. Just made a great run through the middle but lost it to the last man, good tackle but it just looks like he's lagging a bit. He's gone soft into a few tackles as well. Which if you've seen the past few matches, he's been gung ho.
