New Jersey Nets to Brooklyn

How many people actually knew that the New Jersey Nets will begin playing in Brooklyn in 2010, New Jersey fans now kno what its like to have a team playing in a diff state. I just found this out. They will be playing in the Barclays center, yes Barclays. It will be apart of a 4 billion dollar project which is fricking huge. great news for NEW YORKERS, I beleive they will change their name to Brooklyn Nets. This means for us New Yorkers. New Yankee stadium (Yankees), Citi Field (Mets), Barclays Center (Nets), The New Meadowlands (Giants/Jets) Red Bull Park (NJRB) all opening in 2009 and 2010. So much fun and excitement for us. So im guessing they will give us a soccer Stadium for NYCFC, if they can give every pro team in the ny,nj metro area a new stadium we will deff get a team.

Yea - they still have not broken ground on this yet - thats why i think that area is out of the question - they already ahve a lot of plans for downtown brooklyn! I think is already behind schedule but they hope a couple of years- whats odd is they might start a season in Jersey and end it in Brooklyn - imagine that

I live and work in the neighborhood, jack ass, and while a person could have different opinions about whether it's a good thing or not, you are being a real asshole for condemning a neighborhood and a borough. Besides, the arena is surrounded by beautiful and frankly, quite gentrified low rise neighborhoods, and many people -- including myself -- are concerned about what it will do to the character of the neighborhood.

And p.s., you don't know sh!t about Bed Stuy, either. So why dont' you just stay in your little riverdale enclave or wherever your from. We brroklynites will be better off for it. thx.

While it's unfortunate that you weren't murdered in cold blood, we are all glad that you were able to report this atrocious behavior here on our internet message board. If your report is correct, we now know that Brooklyn has some areas that are less than ideal. There might even be a population of African-Americans. :eek:

While I think that you're suggestion, that the solution might lie in developing infrastructure in blighted neighborhoods, is valid, I think my suggestion, that you be raped, brutally and repeatedly, by a rabid wolverine with herpes simplex, would be the more popular proposal by most here.

In his defense, Bed Stuy isn't the safest neighborhood. But that's why I think that area of Brooklyn needs the Nets more than anywhere else. You see this situation all the time, a not so great neighborhood gets a stadium project to revitalize the area.

By the way, congratulations on unearthing this ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING news that the Nets are moving to Brooklyn. Without you, I probably would NEVER have figured out why so many of my neighbors homes are being razed to the ground. Of course, if I had turned on the local news at any time since 2003, it might not have slipped under the radar so easily. But then, as you know, one would have to try to be that ignorant.

"That area" of brroklyn isn't getting the Nets. A gentrified, low rise, fairly low density neighborhood is gettting it. It's a disaster.

And at any rate, Bed stuy doesn't need a sports arena. Sports arenas can be part of a plan to bring people into downtown area that is underutilized after work hours. Not to make poor neighborhoods rich. Bed Stuy is a vibrant neighborhood with plenty of day and night foot traffic. Crime? Yes, occasionally, but mostly just nieghborhood life, which is more I can say than wetherby's lame riverdale neighborhood.
