I wish to send this my letter to the site of the MLS:
I am Italian ( Naples ) and a great fan of soccer world and above all USA soccer and MLS. I wished to do my personal compliments to you Garber for the great growth of the MLS in these years and I think that in the next 4/5 years the MLS will become a very great league, but for my experience of the soccer world there is a BIG PROBLEM. In fact I think that it is absolutely absurd that the most important city in the world ( New York City of course ) hasn't a 1 division team in the most important sport in the world ( nobody in NYC, but also in Italy considers the Red Bulls a NYC team - seat, actual and future stadium, training fields are in New Jersey ....... - ). The NY metropolitan area has 18 million of inhabitants ( not 13 million Mr Garber..... ) and in my opinion it deserves at least 2 teams. London, Buenos Aires, Rio have tens of teams and I think that a NY DERBY should be exceptional spot for USA soccer !!! I know about interest of Wilpon to put a team in MLS and a stadium in Queens ( you Mr Garber know the Queens....) and know the great enthusiasm of thousands New Yorkers for soccer. In fact many crazy New Yorkers about soccer in the last month ( after 16 November... ) have created a great site ( www.newyorkcityfc.net ) a supporters group ( Borough Boys ) and a PETITION for Wilpon. NYC is the only great city in all the world without a soccer team ( in fact in the last years in Japan and it South Korea have been created FC TOKIO and FC SEUL and these 2 asiatic league had an immediately growth about attendances and rating TV......). Perhaps you Mr Garber don't believe me, but also here in Italy many fans of soccer ( in Italy we talk about CALCIO 24/7...... ) don't realize because a city - that isn't only of the New Yorkers, but of all world - hasn't a soccer team in MLS. I wait this team since 1996 and I think that this is the RIGHT MOMENT .....
You Mr Garber surely know that to continue to lose the first market in the USA is an negative aspect for MLS and slackens the growth of soccer in USA. I am sure that after the arrival of Beckham, the further decisive step of the MLS will be 1 only : TO PUT NEW YORK CITY FOOTBALL CLUB IN MLS IN 2010.
I konw that maybe isn't possible to put this team in MLS in 2009 because probably the 16th team will be Philadelphia or St Louis, but I think that it is a MORAL DUTY to put New York City in MLS in 2010 !!!!
I hope that the COMMISSIONER DON GARBER will read this my appassionate letter ( excuse me for my incorrect English, but I am Italian ) and above all that he or some MLS official will reply to me.
THANKS MR GARBER AND.....TRANFORMS THE DREAM OF MILLION OF NYCFC FANS IN ALL THE WORLD IN REALITY !!!!!!
What is your opinion ?

yes. but try not to bother him.
remember: the league no longer places teams in cities. it just connects investor/owners to opportunities.
