The FIFA U17 World Championship is about to get underway in Finland in August. Australia's youth team supposedly (according to their coach) contains 3 or 4 who will be full nationals in the future. They're due to meet the USA U17s in Manchester on August 4th.

Australia's first match is on August 13th against Argentina. The official FIFA site has information here (http://www.fifa.com/en/comp/event/index,2003,1056.html) on match times, team information, tournament groups and schedules. I hope they'll put up some match reports too!

Has anyone seen the aussie team play? Who are the players to look out for? Better yet - anyone know if this will be televised in Australia? Guess i'd better check SBS... I know that they've recently had 2 warm up matches on home soil to the Adelaide Zebras (?) and another semi-professional team.

I think the U17 team will do really well. But be knocked out in the latter stages.

Well they just missed out to progress to the next stage which is the second time ever the Joeys have failed to do so. We finished 2nd last championship but this was a tough group as Nigeria and Argentina are very strong at youth level. Well the U20's & 23's are coming up so let us hope that we do better in those championships.
