NYCFC : a perfect name

I know that somebody ( the great NYC COSMOS for example ) is disagree with me, but I am absolutely convinced that NEW YORK CITY FOOTBALL CLUB is the best possible name for a soccer team of NYC. Infact in it there is the complete name of the most important city in the world and also the caption FC is very important to do realize also in USA what is the true football....
Another important aspect about this name is that all other NY sporting teams ( Red Bull, Yankee , Mets, etc ) are few identifiable with NYC outside USA, of course. Infact in Italy few people know the Yankees or the Mets and almost nobody know that they are NYC teams.

i like NYCFC because it emphasises New York - and that is what i am proud of - plus - i like austin said - i dont want the wizards to lift cups - I want NEW YORK to lift cups!

NYCFC is the best name because it's so simple.
It's classic and will stand the test of time.
I truly hope we can make a difference and get Wilpon to use
the name if he were able to make a team happen.

i personally think NY FC might be better, a tad more simple, but i'm open to the name of NYC FC.

i still think the next team should be named Cosmos. not just saying that cause of the sage wisdon of our own NYC Cosmos (positive rep) but it's a name with history. Yes there's bad that comes with the name, but there's also a world of good. they were the team that introduced most Americans futbol, they were a winning team, they inspired many in the first new wave of American soccer players in the early 90's. I think running from the name is futile, i truly believe part of the problem with the current mls team in the area, especially in the early days is that they've been Act II which hasent' lived up to expectations. (and before any of them say something, that wasn't a knock against ur team Metrobull faithfull, just that following them was gonna be a difficult task for any franchise mls wudda put in.) and before i forget, THEY DID PLAY A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TIME IN NEW YORK!!! (yankee stadium, randall's island, hofstra) wow, i just realized i went on much longer than i planned on for this. bottom line, the franchise is the most important name in the soccer history of the NY area.

Why 'FC" ? Its that old situation again... We call it soccer, not football (as much as I would like it to be called Football in the USA)

NewYork SC sounds just fine.... I do like that one logo you had with the statue of Liberty...Did the MetroStars or the Rangers have something like that? If not, the Brooklyn Bridge would be a good alternative.. I think the Metros used the Empire State Building and taxi Cabs logos at one time..... Brooklyn Bridge leads out Long Island and chances are , thats were your stadium would go...

Long Shot is the Cosmos.. Even if you bought the name from whoever owns it, you will always be held in comparison to team.. Thats a big burden to get over...Sounders, Timbers, Whitecaps don't have quite as big a hill to scale.

I like the SC as well,since it is soccer here. We just chose NYCFC as a name that we can all rally around for now. Who knows what the actual teams name would be.

Like Liverpool... ManU....Roma... Milan... Barca... etc etc....

Love your avatar; don't care much for the name (too generic, imo); but that's just me. If NY does in fact become NYCFC, maybe MLS will pay you big bucks for your logo/crest.

I don't think this is a bad idea but I think that the name really needs to have the words New York City in it. It would be nice to have the team named after Queens but the name NYC is recognized everywhere around the world, and it is something that all Ny'ers can rally around. Think about it: New York City FC. What a classy name.
