The state tourneys will be starting in mid-January, so I'll try posting results to the major ones and maybe some of the smaller state tourneys here.

I think that the State Championships are the most exciting ones, there is lot of rivalry between the clubs.

I like it because it allows you to see what you have before the league starts in May.

But not always the performance is the same at those championships ...
Last year, Botafogo finished the State Championship as runner-up but at the league it didn´t finished at a confortable position ...

Anyway, you´re right at all ... we expect the same or a better performance in both championships...

Even though Flamengo won, it allowed us to see that Roni wasn't going to work out for us and it showed how bad our zagueiros really were (Irineu, Moisés and Thiago). After that, Flamengo brought in better players at the next transfer window.

Cruzeiro also did really bad in their Estadual, which made them do a coaching change. They brought in Dorival Junior and he took them to a Libertadores spot.

Hi Guys,

I am looking for some information on Clube Atletico Bragantino, in particular, the squad details of the team. Have anybody got any ideas?

Your updates are very welcome, Mengao!
I hope you're still motivated to keep us posted about the State Championships. Also, do you plan on picking up your blog again? Because i saw you havent really posted anything yet in 2008.

I must admit, I didn't really think anyone was looking at this topic so I stopped posting the results. I'll try to post the results whenever I can.

As for the blog, I mainly going to write about the league itself and not the state championships or the continental tournaments. If there is enough interest in those competitions, I'll think about writing about them.

I already thought you were thinking no one cared about you posting the results and updating this topic but i assure you that there are people who keep an eye on it. I'm a big fan of Brazilian football (i try to watch as many matches as i can, by downloading torrents) so i highly appreciate when people like you keep us updated since there arent that many good websites about the Brazilian leagues in English.

So, just to let you know, you work is well appreciated, at least by me :)

Sport depend only on themselves to secure the Pernambuco State league for the third year in a row. It's been a terrible contest thus far, partly because of the most ridiculous rules I have ever seen in any competition, and partly because of the inability of some of Sport's rivals to prepare themselves.

Sport won the first half of the competition and secured a berth in the finals, and they have a 6-point lead in the second half with six games left in the schedule. We've also beaten our main rival, Náutico, 0-1 in an away game.

Unfortunately our State league is not a good preparation for the Série A, nor is the CBF calendar good to us, since many of our best players are bought out right before national competition begins. Realistically, my hopes are to get into the Sulamericana, though I think the team has the potential to surprise.
