“Rovers boss Mark Hughes was a special guest at Old Trafford for this year’s National Football Museum Hall of Fame Awards.

“The glittering ceremony, now in its sixth year, honours the real legends of the game.

“Every year, 10 new heroes are inducted, with Ewood Park managers present and past, Mark and Graeme Souness, amongst those to join the list of greats that includes Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Tom Finney, Gary Lineker and George Best.

“Receiving his award, Mark said he felt honoured and proud to be in the company of former great players such as Charlton and Best.

“He received it form former Manchester United captain Martin Buchan, who remembered Mark as a passionate and committed player.

“Souness’ award was presented to him by his boyhood hero, former Scottish international and previous Hall of Fame inductee Dave Mackay.

“This year’s event was the biggest yet with over 500 guests enjoying the evening, which also included a charity auction to help raise funds for the museum.

“All players inducted are chosen by a panel, including previous inductees and football historians.

“Kevin Moore, Director of the National Football Museum, said: ‘It is so important to honour the legends of the game, who have given so much pleasure to millions of people.’”
