Happy Christmas Eve, everyone!

I'd rather be in bed than at work right now, that's for sure.

Hey Liz,

I just got home from work. Now I have to cook, wrap presents and prepare my traditional Christmas quiz for tomorrow night! I'm tempted to go back to the hospital!

Happy Christmas and Holidays to all my friends and drinking buddies on the BSOT. Hope those of you in the colonies aren't suffering with the terrible weather, and that you and your families keep safe.

I'm raising a large glass of HC7&C to you all.

Judy

Merry Merry Christmas Gooners!

Judy thanks for the toast-I'll raise mine with my poor imitation of HC but am with you in spirit. We will be raising a glass together soon though!

Howdy gang!

Looks like another turkey loaf dinner here. Mmmm, yummy!

At least we got the winner from Bendtner this weekend! That makes up for a crummy dinner in my book!

1. got the 2003/4 and 2004/5 season reviews on DVD for christmas
2. anyone know how long a passport is good for? i can't find mine right now (it may be at my parents house) but I was just wondering. don't think I'll be using it until 2009, which would make it 10 years old, at which point I think I have to get a new one anyways.

hope everyone had a good christmas!

Sorry to hear that...Hope that you have wonderful Boxing Day !!

This Christmas Day was pretty fanfreakintastic at my house this year.
Mum, Sister and Nephew are here from England.

I got asked many times this week...what is Boxing Day ??
So, for those who might be interested, here are the most likely derivations.

http://whychristmas.com/i/hollyl.gifBoxing Day http://whychristmas.com/i/hollyr.gif

Boxing Day takes place on December 26th and is only celebrated in a few countries. It was started in the UK about 800 years ago in the Middle Ages. It was the day when the alms box, collection boxes for the poor often kept in churches, were opened so that the contents could be distributed to poor people. Some churches still open these boxes on Boxing Day.
It might have been the Romans that first brought this type of collecting box to the UK, but they used them to collect money for the betting games which they played during their winter celebrations!
In Holland (http://whychristmas.com/cultures/holland.shtml), some collection boxes were made out of a rough pottery called 'earthenware' and were shaped like pigs. Perhaps this is where we get the term 'Piggy Bank'!
The Carol (http://whychristmas.com/customs/carols.shtml), Good King Wencelas, is set on Boxing Day and is about a King in the Middle Ages who brings food to a poor family.
It was also traditional that servants got the day off to celebrate Christmas with their families on Boxing Day. Before World War II, it was common for working people (such as milkmen and butchers) to travel round their delivery places and collect their Christmas box or tip. This tradition has now mostly stopped and any Christmas tips, given to people such as postal workers and newspaper delivery children, are not normally given or collected on Boxing Day.
Boxing Day has now become another public holiday in countries such as the U.K. (http://whychristmas.com/cultures/uk.shtml), Canada, Australia (http://whychristmas.com/cultures/australia.shtml) and New Zealand. It is also the traditional day that Pantomimes (http://whychristmas.com/customs/panto.shtml) started to play. There are also often sports played on Boxing Day in the UK, especially horse racing and football matches!

Got one more day off...and am looking forward to the Pompey game at the Pub.
I love evening kick-offs !!

Hope that everyone had a Mele Kalikimaka.http://mailorderhawaii.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/grafixbin/Christmas0960.gif

Merry Christmas, Gooners (he said a day late)! And happy Boxing Day to all, and to all a Gunners victory!

- #1's Christmas pageant went well. Alas, no moments of stupidity worthy of AFV.
- House is relatively clean, though awash in all-things related to toy horses or loud, electronic construction vehicles.
- Mrs. GG gifted me with the Bourne trilogy and even joined me for Ultimatum last night. I love her!

i didn't, but my mom did!

my dad got her one, so she can listen to books on tape (well, books on iPod). she loves to read and her eyesight is awful and an iPod is easier to carry around then a portable CD player.
