Instead of cluttering up the board with a lot of single game threads I thought we might combine them into one large thread. If people don't like it we can scrap it and go back to the usual single game threads.

Fantastic win - jumped us up into 11th place. We looked really flat in the first half and Camara couldn't win a header to save his life. Diane was a revelation. When he and Pauleta came on it really gave Rothen other players to look for on crosses.
The announcers kept asking why Pauleta doesn't start. I was under the impression that he did not want to play so many games, but they went on like it was PLG's decision.
Hopefully Digard's injury does not keep him out too long.

Digard will be out of action about 4/6 weeks.
If you ask to Pauleta, his will would be to play every single game but PLG only make him a starter at home. This time, Pauleta was on the bench and I think that's because his performance against Toulouse was really poor. PLG also wanted to keep the same winning eleven which won against St-Etienne and Epinal.
In my opinion, Pauleta deserves to be in the starting eleven more than N'gog, at least at home. Lately, N'gog has been awful. I don't see him as talented as some other supporters though.
Lens played really low during the first half, therefore a striker like Pauleta would give us more opportunities to score since he has this killer instinct that no one else in PSG has. Lens came to the Parc des Princes for a draw so we had only a few scoring chances during his half as their defense was rather solid with the come back of Hilton.
No matter how good were Rothen and Armand, one of our problem was to keep attacking on the left side while our right side was pretty useless since Chantôme doesn't have the skills to contribute to our attacks. The injury of Digard changed our whole tactics even though we were playing in 4-4-2 still but such an offensive player like Diane with his tricks, his quickness made our right side shiny.
Diane had a lot of critics before that game mostly because he can't score. He answered the best way by scoring twice and assisting Pauleta. He made the right choose by not leaving for Qatar (money).
This victory allowed us to jump to the 11st place and we will have to confirm this rank and result against Lorient. I don't see the Coupe de la Ligue as important as championship though (valenciennes).
Anyway, Domenech was there, which might be a good thing for Rothen since he was once again fantastic.
By the way, it was Yepes' birthday. Happy birthday Mario.
If i had to rate the players I would give them :
Landreau : 5
Ceará : 5,5
Camara : 5
Yepes : 6
Armand : 6,5
Digard : 4,5
(Diané, 8, MOM)
Chantôme : 5
Clément : 5
Rothen : 7
N'Gog : 3
(Pauleta, 7)
Luyindula : 4,5
(Mendy, 5)

I would always play Pauleta providning he is fit. His legs might not be able to play every game any more, but he is a clever player which age doesnt affect. I also think compared to Ngog, he is far more likely to pick up a goal, even when he isnt playing that well, which we really need at the moment!

I actually have to agree with this statement 100%. N'Gog a couple of years ago looked very impressive, I think then as a U-17 player, but it doesn't appear as if he's developing as well as he should be as he does have some wonderful abilities (such as his goal against Nice), though he's also had stretches in games where he's nowhere.
On the plus side, I think Chantôme, Sankharé, Ngoyi, Mulumbu, etc. have been better than expected, as they had almost no hype coming out of the academy, and are now thought of as guys who will contribute in years ahead.

PSG - Valenciennes : 4 - 0
Pauleta (2', penalty)
Diané (56', 61')
Rothen (70').
What a crazy game. That's why I love football and PSG. Luyindula won a penalty at the very beginning of the game. Pauleta scored it and right after this goal, Yepes was sent off (5').
This match was amazing. By the way, Chantôme was great used on his best position (defensive midfielder) and Diané was once again very effective. Pauleta was subbed during the first half therefore Diané player as forward mostly of the game.
Ivory Coast might regret to don't have him in the squad for the African Cup of Nations.

Three straight wins and 4 out of our last 5. We're starting to score some goals and moving up the table. We're already sitting atop Marseille (which is celebration enough for me), but a win could see up as high as 8th.

It's possible. A few things have to work out for us.
If we win we move into 10th.
Then St. Etienne have to beat Rennes - we'll be in t-9th but ahead on GD.
If Metz beat Monaco (unlikely) by 4 or more (even more unlikely) we'll be t-8 and ahead on GD.
Now that would be one crazy weekend. :D

Tough setback against Lorient followed by a good result v. Metz. We've won 5 of our last 7 and have finally started putting the ball in the net scoring 12 in those wins. Here's to another big display today.

Lille - PSG : 0 - 0.

Armand---Yepes---Camara---Ceara

That's undoubly a good draw for PSG though it was a crappy game. It's not an excuse but we played 5 games within 2 weeks. Lille is a solid team and it's still hard to play against them despite of their rank in the league. Le Guen's defensive tactics reflected that PSG had to capitalise on our previous home victories. It was clear that his consigns were to play really low to don't lose the game as PSG did against Lorient. It also protected our players from mediatic pressure because I expected French Media to start with : "PSG will be the best team at home and the worse away unlike the first 6 month". In that way, Le Guen protected PSG players and it allowed us to come back with a good draw.
We had only a few chance to score during the whole game. Diané was a threat during the first half and he is really showing to all the critics he had that he can make it with PSG. I noticed that l'équipe gave him only a 4.5 that's garbage. He became crucial in PSG system even though he wasn't provided in good passes.
Rothen was playing really low and close to Clément. It reminds me of his position while PSG used 4-3-3. I assume that he wasn't as good as usual also because of Béria's good performance. Debuchy and Béria defended pretty well. Every time Rothen received a pass both of them were stalking him (I hope it was over by the end of the game lol).
Mendy was once again used as right winger obviously to prevent counter-attacks on Céara side and to help him out which he did pretty well. However, his offensive impact was pretty poor. I won't blame him on that part because it was obviously Le Guen's consigns for Mendy to keep being low on the field. At times, Mendy was used as a Koller-like. Landreau, Armand...they all tried to find him with long passes. It didn't helped him to shine and he wasn't combative enough.
I don't like the media reports on Mendy. Mendy can't cross, Mendy sucks...Fine, but there isn't a single wing back able to cross any better than him in L1. Mendy is technically well skilled (I mean it!), he is quick and defend rather well. His offensive impact could be criticed before him to be switched as right winger. To be honest, Mendy playing as a midfielder isn't really brand new. He played on this position against Marseille during the season 2003/2004 (Om - PSG : 0-1, Fiorese 89' if I remember well). When Luis Fernandez used Mendy it was often as a right winger and not on the back. Even Vahid used him on this position several times when Fiorese left PSG for money and because PSG was a prison and a sect (of course...) I'm sure we'll miss him when he will go back to EPL.
I better go back on topic. Luyindula was rather useless, he woke up 15 minutes before the end of the match and Chantôme as well. Clement was perfect as usual. He was solid and intercepted a bunch of passes. Clément should be considered as MOM and Camara as well.
Our defense was good, Camara was really influent. He made one of his best match since he is playing for PSG. A center-back duo built with Yepes and him is a way better than with Bourillon. I'm feeling that PSG won't extend Yepes' contract by the end of the season. I 'm worry, Bourillon isn't good enough to make it with PSG.
By the way, Landreau was good even though Lille hit the post once.
Now the most important will be to confirm our good start in 2008 during the upcoming month. First of all, PSG have to play in Nantes against Poiré Sur Vie and then Le Mans, Marseille, Monaco, Auxerre, Bordeaux.
That's a crucial month for PSG to escape relegation. Hopefully PSG will play those games with Krasic in its squad.
My ratings :
Landreau : 5
Armand : 5,5
Yepes : 5,5
Camara : 7
Ceara : 5
Clement : 7
Chantôme : 4
Rothen : 4,5
Mendy : 4,5
Luyindula : 3

It was a boring game. Nothing much in it.

Diane has been fantastic since coming on as a sub v. Lens. I too think he's shown he belongs in the first team.

I've never liked Luyindula. I think Marseille pulled a fast one sending him here. Clement, however, has really won me over. I wasn't really sold on him when he arrived, but he's relatively consistent and has shone a lot of desire.

What's wrong with Bourillon? I thought he was going to be a good player and instead he's regressed. Perhaps it's a confidence thing, but if he doesn't shake it soon he may not be around long enough to prove himself.

It was a boring game. Nothing much in it.

I don't know. It tooks 6 month for Armand and Yepes to be fully integrated in the team perhaps it'll be the same for Bourillon...
