Basement side Derby travel to Tyneside for a 2pm kick-off on Sunday looking for only their second victory of the season - and their first double.

NUFC: To follow...Duff, Taylor, Enrique and Ameobi appeared in a behind-closed doors friendly on Tuesday, but Owen wasn't risked and won't feature on Sunday.

News is awaited on Carr, while Ramage remains sidelined. Faye also had a runout on Wednesday but won't be considered for duty against Derby.

DCFC: To follow...former Magpie Andy Griffin has a calf injury Stephen Pearson and Robert Earnshaw are also injury doubts.

A 0-1 home defeat on Saturday at the hands of the Smoggies made it no wins out of three for new recently- appointed Rams boss Paul Jewell and extended their run of defeats to seven on the bounce (their record is eight).

Derby have scored just once away from home this season in nine games - from toon fan Steve Howard netting during a 1-4 reverse at Old Trafford earlier this month, one of eight losses on the road.

Their only away point to date came in a 0-0 stalemate against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Ref: Andre Marriner - only our third meeting with his West Midlands-based whistler since he managed not to show either side a card as we lost 1-2 at Norwich in 2005.

His only visit to Tyneside saw him splashing around with the players as we accounted for Portsmouth 3-0 in the League Cup on a wet night here in October 2006.

So far this season Marriner has officiated one of Derby's games - the 0-2 home loss to Chelsea that saw the axe fall soon after for Rams boss Billy Davies and his assistant David Kelly.

Rams in Toon: Premiership Years:

2001/02 Won 1-0 Shearer (pen)
2000/01 Won 3-2 Cort, Cordone, Glass
1999/00 Won 2-0 Eranio OG, Shearer
1998/99 Won 2-1 Dabizas, Glass
1997/98 Drew 0-0
1996/97 Won 3-1 Elliott, Ferdinand, Shearer

Let's not lose this time, ok boys? This is the epitome of a "should win" game.

I think this could be the game Sam gives everyone the moneyshot formation that everyone has been begging for :

Beye-Taylor-Rozzy- Enrique

---------Barton------------

Milner----Emre-------Zoggy

-------Smith-----Martins----

I'm interested to see how Emre will play if given a starting spot. I like him, and he's been great off the bench, I just hope he won't lose his sense of urgency.

True Faith (http://www.true-faith.co.uk/html/Features/0708_preview_derby_h.htm)

Injuries

Owen: Thigh Returns: 29th December
Ramage: Cruciate Returns: Season

Doubtful

Faye: Calf
Taylor: Hamstring
Duff: Fitness
Carr: Hamstring

Suspensions

None

Cards

Smith - 7 Yellow
Butt - 7 Yellow
Geremi - 2 Yellow
N’Zogbia - 2 Yellow
Faye - 2 Yellow
Beye - 2 Yellow
Milner - 2 Yellow
Taylor - 1 Yellow
Barton - 1 Yellow
Emre - 1 Yellow

Formation

Derby will more like come out 4-5-1 so 4-4-2 should be the order of the day. No doubt the baffling policy of deploying Charlie at left-back will continue with Milner in front. Despite playing 90 minutes on Tuesday, I think Enrique should be given a start. Derby are unlikely to cause him problems and we should not be approaching this game with a containment mindset at all, period. Chances of Sam dropping the consistently below mediocre Geremi may be slim but this needs doing sooner rather than later to bring balance and forward movement back to the side.

I would like to see us run out with: Given, Beye, Caçapa, Rozenhal, Enrique, Milner, Butt, Barton, Charlie, Viduka and Martins

Bench from: Harper, Edgar, Emre, Geremi and Smith

Player Form

Saturday’s (apparently) forgettable encounter provided little in the way of encouragement regards player form but our best players this season remain Milner, Charlie and Beye. Rozenhal’s coat still seems to be hanging from a shaky peg in the dressing room but fairplay to him and Caçapa for keeping a clean sheet. Two on the bounce would do them no harm whatsoever.

Expectations

Three points is an absolute must. A major improvement on goal difference is an optional but unlikely extra

Opposition Danger Man

Giles Barnes. Butt needs to be right on top of him (not literally of course, that kind of behaviour shouldn’t be tolerated)

Love to Hate

Nobody. I couldn’t even find any dubious links to mackem/smog ancestry/playing careers, sorry.

Referee

Andre Marriner. Has ‘controlled’ 16 games this season (only 7 in the Premiership, hmmm) and given out 46 yellows and 2 reds.

Duff is still regaining fitness, does he make the bench? If so whose place does he take?

This is outrageously bad. We let them come to SJP and TRIPLE their away goals total for the year?

Fire Sam if we lose to these maroons AGAIN. WTF is wrong with this team? We have looked so good for the past few weeks and then they let Derby come in and play like this. Jiminy.
