Kirkland or Dudek? I think Dudek will get the nod, only because Kirkland has had a few injuries pre-season and hasn't had much chance to re-establish himself since his operation.
Also, once Dudek came back he did fine, now if his form slips ....

I think Dudek is in Sanderville right now - one more slip and he's toast like Gary Pallister chasing Michael Owen.
Problem is that I don't think he'll ever regain the confidence of many of the supporters. When he came back last year, after nearly every goal we gave up, somebody at Summers (usually the same person, actually) would say "he should've had that."

Probably true. I just think Dudek will be in the team against Chelsea and then GH will take a wait and see attitude.
Coming back from injury, Kirkland is more likely to be on the bench.

Agree. It's Dudek for now--but one slip, and that's it for him.
On a related note: With Arpexhad gone, the third keeper is now Patrice Luzi?

Of course. He's young and French, just the way GH likes them. Arphexad was old and French.

When fit, I'd like to see Kirkland myself. He's a great player, and more experience will boost his chances of getting in the England team. Then maybe, just maybe we'll get rid of Sven's flapping Eunarch David James.

I don't think you'll get much argument here. But most of us realize this is Dudek's "last chance".
In the meantime Chris just has to be patient.

Well, wait a few weeks, at least...
Seriously, though, Dudek's hands scare me. He's always favored punching the ball over catching it, and yesterday he had difficulty holding on to the ball on some fairly simple-looking saves.

Was he as careless as Howard?
Seriously, the commentators went way overboard on his debut for Man U. He is a parrier not a catcher. Unimpressed.

Don't know about that, but he clearly doesn't swear at himself enough.

Dudek reaping the rewards of a summer break
With the start of the new Premiership season drawing ever closer Jerzy Dudek believes he's reaping the benefits of a football free summer.
As preparations for the new campaign begin to hot up the Liverpool number one insists he's in great condition and he puts that down to having enjoyed a complete break from the game during the close season.
The big Pole was in excellent form last night as the Reds stretched their unbeaten pre-season run to five games with a goalless draw against Ajax and speaking to Liverpoolfc.tv afterwards he said: "I'm satisfied with my performance. It was a really good team performance. We enjoyed a defensive training session in the morning and it paid dividends for us.
"I feel a lot better now because last summer I was very tired after the World Cup and I wasn't mentally prepared for the pre-season training then.
"Now I have done everything right and feel in great condition physically. I'm very happy with the last few months. I've had a problem with my back and then my groin but now everything seems alright. I've worked very hard in the summer and I'm happy with the situation now.
"It was good to play a full match. Everybody wants to be involved in pre-season but it's only early days. Because we work so hard in training it's difficult to play in all the game.
"A lot of the lads played the whole 90 minutes last night but maybe tomorrow it will be different. I just have to work has hard as I can and respect the decision of the manager."

I think he will start the season with Jerzy Dudek and see if he makes and more mistakes and if he does i think Chris Kirkland will get his chance and prove to the world why he should be the Liverpool and England NO 1
