2010- Can Africa handle it?

Are there adequate resources and facilities to host a World Cup in Africa? I would imagine only S. Africa is close to being adequate here. I would think Egypt would be a security nightmare beyond compare with its large Islamic extremist population and its government's tenous grip on power. I am predicting that no matter what though, this will be a disaster of a Cup. Is there a frontrunner other than S Africa? How many worthy stadia are there in S Africa? Are they mostly rugby and cricket type stadiums with poor football sightlines?

Firstly, South Africa, Morroco, Tunisia and Egypt are all capable of hosting the WC.
If you're going to take security into account, then the USA should never host the WC again.
As for stadia, South Africa has better stadiums than most European countries. What does being a rugby stadium have to do with it? Werent every one of the USA's stadiums in 94 just American football stadiums? And infact, dont most MLS teams just play in American football stadiums?

And why do you predict it will be a disaster? Was the Rugby World Cup in South Africa a disaster? Was the recent Cricket World Cup in South Africa a disaster? Was the World Youth Cup of 1999 in Nigeria a disaster? Have any events in Morroco, Tunisia or Egypt been a disaster? Are you just another ignoramus determined to see nothing but bad in a whole continent based on what you see on CNN. Or let me guess, you're another one of these people hoping something bad will happen so it'll be hosted in the USA at the last minute? Keep dreaming.

Also, you've obviously forgotten that it would be South Africa hosting 2006 instead of Germany if it wasnt for some bent dumbarse New Zealand official.

South Africa is perfectly capable of hosting the WC, and they will. They're the clear and obvious choice.

Huh? I'm pretty sure the U.S. can handle security, especially with an event that size, and a lot better than any other nation.
