Not bad, either. A rookie too many at the back, eh?

Arbs---------Carra------Hobbs-----Aurelio
Babel--------Lucas-----Alonso--------Leto

Subs - Martin, Hyypia, Gerrard, Momo, Zhar

If Alonso isn't fit, I would start Momo. I think this would be a good game to start Babel and see if he has improved to the point where he can start and have the impact he does when he is a substitute.

hopefully chelsea doesn't play anyone either; a win, even in the carling cup, would feel pretty nice right now

Pepe' needs a rest.?
He aught to donate some of his stipend back to the club to buy new players....:)

Chelsea's pretty beat up at the moment, so I could see it going either way - they might rest what healthy players they have or they might be forced to play first-teamers because they simply don't have anyone else.

I want to see a lineup similar to the OP's. El Zhar, Leto, Lucas, and Xabi should all play. I'd like to see Agger back, if healthy, just to spell Carra a bit and get some of his match-fitness back.

I see it pretty much the same way....Charles Leto Hobbs Lucas and Xabi all come in. Maybe el zahr as well. On the other hand Rafa's gonna want to win this game imo.

Rafa denied he'd ever do it, but how bout putting xabi in caras place at the back and playing momo in midfield? Or lucas or even momo back there for that matter. Given that this is the curling cup. Jamies played em all more or less.

Also veronin will probably play i would think, probably with crouch. Could be a good game to start babel up front also as a thought.

or maybe we could play hienze or kaldaze......snap. sigh.

It might be too early to start Swagger at the back, I'm thinking he may get some game time in the second half if we're not chasing the game.

Liverbird's lineup is pretty much what I'd go for, but with maybe Babel starting this one somewhere, whether it be either wing or up front.

Anyway's it would be good to get another win over Chelski, although its not as much fun without the Special Moron being there to sulk about it.......... ;)

See we have a TV thread for that -- but I'll take mercy on the old guy -- Setanta at noon on the left coast.

Xabi did play at CB in a intra club game as well as a closed doors game so Rafa obviously has thought about it...IMO Xabi would be almost as good at CB

Not to sure about his ability in the air, but otherwise he would be a good emergency cover for CB.

He would be sort of like Agger but without the aerial ability and strength...a playmaker from the back

It would be good to give cara and sami both an off day, thats all. With finnan and agger both hurt that back line is a little thin.

You know, maybe it's the old school in me. I'm hating the way this thread is going. Maybe it's the competetive part of me where I just hate to lose, not just in football but in any part of life. Yeh, I can put on a good front and say well done but inside I'm seething.

Well, what I'm trying to say is: This is ********ing Chelsea, this is a cup match (Yeh, I know) and I think we should play to win and play a team that will do just that....WIN!

I don't know of any other way to play football.

I'm glad you said that because I agree. Even though its the Careless Cup, it is Chelsea and we are coming off a depressing loss to the Mancs which I want our team to make up for a bit. I want this team to be able to win games that don't count as well and not resort to playing casual and careful football.
