Strange question but what months do you play football in America?

In the UK the season tends to be August - May time with no break unless you are playing on crap pitches that have been spoiled by the weather! But then again, that doesn't normally stop sunday league teams, hence the pitches by me being TRASHED!

Really depends on where you live. My little brother is on the West Coast (San Diego), and plays pretty much year round - with a short break in the winter because of the rain. Here in DC, I play outdoor from March through November (my spring season is March through May, summer is June through August, and fall season is September through November) , and indoor December through February. With the advent of fieldturf, the seasons tend to start earlier and end later than in the past.

That's what he tells me - it's California, they're a bit different.

We had something similar when I lived in Chile. To keep the pitches in decent shape you couldn't use them if it had rained within the last 48 hours. This meant no matches were scheduled for June or July and no one bothered with trying to schedule a practice because you'd be hard pressed to find two consecutive days of sun during those months. There were very few grass pitches where I lived (almost entirely dirt pitches) so I was very much in favor of the ban.

I think thats why sunday league pitches in England are so bad. Because half the time nobody stops teams from playing on them when its pissing down with rain. So the pitches just get worse and worse and then when they do decided that its probably best that the pitches aren't played on the things are past saving anyhow.

Thankfully i've always played on really nice pitches. But when i do venture over the field by my house sometimes you just disappear in a massive squelchy pool of mud. Its silly how they can expect people to play on those kind of pitches. No wonder English sunday league has a HOOF mentality about it because there is no way you could do any kind of skills on thats pitches!!

u drunk apps? your usually a grammar hero, now your on a par with me

english football pitches are horible, i dont think ive ever seen a flat one, the goal mouths are bogs and they are covered in dog shit (thanks for the blind-ness dog walkers!)

in the summer they are too hard and have no grass on them

in the other times of the year they are mud fests

england sucks :(

I live in upstate NY, and were obv. off november-march for snow, but there's indoor to keep fit. then spring from march-june/july, and fall season starts in the middle of august for our school, and can last until right around thanksgiving, which is when States are. and in my area, we're also hard pressed to find a flat field cause its such a hilly area. i love to play in the rain, but on some pitches they're just begging you to sprain your ankle.

Yo, just wanted to throw my admiration into Alan Hutton for making the stupidest yet most honorable decision I ever heard, turned down an £8m transfer tag (record for an outfield jock, man I've always wanted to say that!) and £28k/week in the prem (at least for as long as they stay up:p) for spurs for less than half that bank to stay at gers where he's been since 14...

Now don't get me wrong I've oft said I have no hate for the likes of Ash Cole for gettin it while he can, but u just gotta take ur hat off for one of the few guys who just stood up for loyalty and understands that if u already make a respectable annual salary every MONTH u can live juicy AND have principles!!!

T-Dub should be slightly embarrased for celebrating a deflection that went in off his chest like he'd meant it... but then a goal is a goal is a goal...

Oh and Id like to extend a British welcome to our very own boards favourite sex-pest, R&W, welcome to our nation and don't treat our lasses too badly :P

Well in CA we pretty much play year around because we have the best weather in the world :p
Club soccer starts in September ends around the end of Nov. Dec and Jan are usally a break for holidays. If your in High School then you train from November and play till Feb. Then after that you train with your club team again.

Yep we were shit. Did you go? I'm going to WHL for the return leg.

Mr Vexed

didnt go, same here, going for the one at the lane. i get the feeling we'll pay for those missed chances, and i dont believe for one minute wenger will pick the same team for the second leg either. i think he'll put some of the big guns in to be honest, you dont get to a semi final and not want to get to the final. think they showed him last night they were slightly naive, and perhaps thought they would turn spurs over just by turning up.

berbatov, when he's up for it, is just too good. when he wants to be he can be its frustrating that he doesnt seem arsed all the time. good to see jenas have a good game, hoping maybe capello picks him for england, he wont do any worse than stevie gay or fat frank, think he deserves a go, everyone else seems to have.
