That's not the way provisional picks work. If you bust your salary cap, you don't get the draft rights to that player. That's the penalty for taking away other manager's chance to make the provisional draft and who planned their finances better.

Small risk, but I'm guessing you will still be ok.

So if Philips comes on the board at 9 million, you're scuppered.... even though you have 1.5 million in reserve?

Sorry about all the hold up today, not to mention the draft disaster.... there was a death in the family, so this really was not on the top of my priorities... but, I am back now and ready to pick my team... Henry, Ruud, Scholes, Giggs, Viera, etc.... lol i know, not very funny...

now i have awards

ME: the most defensive minded Goalie and 3 defenders in first 6 rounds...

1-800: the furthest out on a limb pick... Van Bommel, also most level headed...

Darr: "Defense is not for me!"--- 5 defenders and goalie in last 6 picks

Ingromius: best strike : Shearer, Hasselbaink, Vassel

Kopi and JG Revs... did not select striker in 1st 3 rounds... great patience

Kopi and Hal great midfields...

Late picks, Hal and Kopi, Solano and Henchoz... best budget minded ... Hal...

Trendsetter award goes to Bufflo, first prov pick

Bonehead pick of the Day, Cole (unless he starts, he just might! i hope veron stays put)

Worst team in with a chance to win it all.... drum roll please........................................................
i have no idea, i think everyone drafted well, this looks like it will be tough... oh again, sorry about the hold up today guys, impossible to avoid...

When do trades begin??? can we do them before the transfer deadline? also, can a team with a provisional pick make trades???

I have S Gerrard on my roster in place of Joe Cole, as Gerrard is a mid who is valued at 8.5 to make my team complete, I want to thank yall for making my pics for me, u guys really did a great job when you could have easily shafted me... I will make the Joe Cole/Gerrard switch whenever they put him in the system, if anyone wants to talk trades the only player im willing to give up is Ruud Van Nistelroy...

lol, sorry Darr, but he has to go!!!

1800-WorldCup asked,
"So if Phillips comes on the board at 9 million, you're scuppered.... even though you have 1.5 million in reserve?"

Not so. Phillips can come in at anything up to 10 M cause that's what I have left after my 14th pick.

I'm just estimating that Phillips will come in at 8.5. I won't use up that extra 1.5 until after I find out Phillips real valuation.

Just draged my lazy ass out of bed.

I will be watching the Leeds/Viduka thing with interest.
One of the reasons i chose him though is so that if he does leave i have quite a bit of available salary cap to pick up just about any other striker that comes in to the Prem.
I was rather hoping the Vieri rumour to Chelsea would come to something-although that fella might rival Henry for price.

All out attack for me this time.
2-5-3 will be the formation.

If Vieri was more than gossip, I was planning on him for my provisional pick. That's why I was keeping so much cash in reserve, varying between 11-12 as the draft progressed. Near the end I decided to add quality defenders, mids, and Phillips who came available rather than bet on Vieri.

Still, if he comes available, I'll be racing you (and probably every other manager) to sign him as soon as he is valued and in the free agency pool.

Um, Chelsea players huh?

I purposely stayed away from them as the starting line up will be very flexible this year.
I see Bridge-Duff-Geremi as the only every week starters as the others will all be subject to rotation by the sheer size of the squad.

I think Duff will rival hHnry this season as well for leading points scorer in the league.

Holland

Thanks...

I intend to keep Cole, unless someone wants to do a trade, Gerrard is the same value as what i set as provisional for Cole, so i was just using him as a place marker in the squad... so that anybody looking at my team would work, (i could have used a midfielder that no one picked, but i did not think there was one valued at 8.5 and rather than get people thinking i changed i tried to do the blatantly obvious place marker...)

I have awards too.

Start at the top.

Man of the match: Clearly WorldCup for his infinite patience and very very late nights.

Tightwad Award (Scotsman of the draft): Hal. His values are likely to rise sharply once the season gets underway and he stole too many picks from under my nose. Dr Jones also notes he didn't get any pocket money as a kid either :D

Schizo award: Clanblue, in this league and running the same thing in the Chelsea forum at the same time, I think I saw Bellion's name over there and it got me confused. Paul's head must be spinning right now.

AWOL award: Mt Killamanjohno, seriously my sympathies, but the award is yours

Sneaky bugger award: Bufflo Soldier. Changes the rules, makes Hal mad and flexes the salary cap to the max, what can you expect from a Man U fan ;)

You're in trouble with Dad award: DrJones. Stays out "after 10" and doesn't tell his Dad, man you are in for it.

Oh and we all won the Charity Shield over the Chelsea forum, gave them a couple of days headstart and we finished 15 rounds to their 9. We win the cup 15-9.

Good luck to all.

that should be the AWOP award... Absent With Out Picks...

Clanblue says" I think Duff will rival Henry for points this season"

HAH! so what, Duff is gonna score 24 goals and dish out 23 assists??? boy I wonder which team you root for? LOL...

to the ManU fans... there is of course Defoe speculation, but also rumours about Trabelsi from Ajax, and links to Van der Vart from Ajax as well, if we can get any 2 of these players, IMO prefferably, Trab and VDV we will have accomplished a great deal!!!

I think the fact that we had 10 teams this season has spread out the talent quite well as i don't see a single team that looks significantly better than any other.

Form from unexpected sources will be the decider this year i believe, you know, the midfielder that bangs in 15-18 goals and picks up some of those ever so dubious 'Bonus" awards.

Perhaps i am a little biast on Duff ;), but i do see him as a serious points earner.

Having ten teams did make it very difficult I thought. Having to wait for 18 picks to go after each of my two was just awful. Not once did my next pick not go. Not once. 18 picks is a long time to wait and too much talent to be stolen.

I probably should have picked a forward in the first round but tried to shake things up a bit, I still think my Cudicin/Friedel strategy had some merit, but only picked one instead of both. Scholes was too tempting after RvN and Henry had gone. Beattie was the one I was wrestling with and I hope he was a flash in thep an last year.

Kanoute and Robert are still out there, but too high a price for my league. What's that? Robbie Fowler has his bag packed?

Henchoz if he stays fit will help me and Bridge could be a good point getter. O'Shea will cheer me up when Man U get a clean sheet, especially if Carrol is in goal ;)

I see Geremi as the biggest point winner out of midfield for Chelsea this season, since he's the free kick specialist of the bunch.

I must nominate one of my picks for a special award as well.... Funniest moment in the draft may have been my swoop to beat everyone else... to a player nobody else had ever heard of. But if my hunch is right about Faye he's severely undervalued at 5.5.
