Is it time to sack Hitzfeld? Bayern maybe going as 1st into the winter break, but has anyone seen a decent performance since the Nuremberg game which was around match day 9? Has anyone seen even a little improvement in tactics or in squad management? After the latest proof of miserability against Hertha Hitzfeld even said after it "We made a good game!" ???
Which drugs is he on?

So, since there are not many possibilities to get things back on track, especially for a football team, I think it is time for the "ultima ratio" and this means to sack Hitzfeld!

I like Ottmar. It's hard for me to say byebye now, in winter break. But, it seems we have to. Feel sad.

Do we have other alternatives than firing him? Something needs to change, we can't go on like this anymore. Bremen are breathing in our neck.

I voted yes!

I agree with Hendrik's post in the other thread that Ottmar's time is up. I don't think he will sign a new contract in the winter break. On the other hand Uli and Kalle probably can't fire him because we are first and we still participate in all three competitions(unless we lose against Aris). The perfect solution for this situation would be that Ottmar becomes Switzerland's NT coach and we find a new foreign manager.

The problem I have is that in the winter break it is hard to get a new manager. Mourinho and Klinsmann are the only ones I can think of. And I don't want Mourinho, and with Klinsmann there are a few other problems.

I am greatful for what Ottmar did for us in the past, but I don't think he's right for us anymore. Its simply not working. I must say that Mourinho would be a great catch, plus he doesn't even seem that uninterested... But before Uli and Co. fire Hitzfeld, if they do, they will already have a back-up plan I believe. Just like they did when the fired Magath.

A man who left a party before giving the captain speech, criticizes the wrong people, and pisses his own buddies off in the locker rooms, those are just GREAT signs of a super coach!

He should stay here and coach our young GKs for Bayern or NT.

this is not football. the ********ers put 11 men in their area for 75 minutes of the game. ******** this shit man. Hitzfeld is leaving at the end of the season probably and sacking him should not be an option. we are going to play better after the winter break

Sacking now has a huge advantage, the new coach could use the winter break to get knwo with the players and he could introduce his system of play and the players already can get used to it. Capable coaches are on the markt with Lippi or Mourinho therefore I don't wanna see a similar approach like under Magaht as the led him use the winter break and the beginning of the second half only to realize his final failure. Now it is the best time to make the cut! Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of firing coaches but there are more things going wrong that just "a usual downphase". The team chemistry certainly is poisend due to Hitzfeld improper management as the Schweinsteiger interview is implying and tactics wise their is simply no improvement. Putting money on the variable time like "things will improve without drastic measures" can cost the club more that firing now.

Also keep in mind that bayern ahs to play almost all potential real opponents except Sttutgart within the first 7-8 games in the second half of the season. Therefore giving Hitzfeld time may screw up completely

Don't forget that the 11 Bayern players + coach are half responsible for it

What I will say is that Bayern's troubles are so obvious and he either hasn't seen them (which is bad) or he's afraid to upset certain players (which is worse). So he most likely should go.

When this squad play a 4-5-1 with Ze and MVB in front of Hamit, Ribery and Schweini it's an unbeatable team. They clog the midfield, take possession there and protect their defense. And Toni is good at both holding the ball up for the attacking mids as well as finishing. This need to play a 4-4-2 to accomodate two star forwards is what is killing the team. Plain and simple. Look at the record (and the manner of wins) when he one striker and played the 4-5-1 and how average they have been with two.

And if I can see, then why can't he?

Also keep in mind that keeping a coach that has already problems (tactics wise, authority etc) with the current squad can't solve any problems when he will leave the club for sure after the season (which is highly likely to happen), because no one will accepts his advices or hear at his suggestions. There will be a huge authority problem when he is not fired now!

Duncan, what did Schweinsteiger say in the interview? We need to fire him before it's too late, all the great caoches will be unavailable for next season. That is a MAJOR concern. Hitz may leave in the end of the season, but we may not be able to find a suitable replacement!:mad:

He said that he can understand Sagnol and that youth players like him aren't respected that much as they should (implied: pointing at the new signings getting all the hail and praise).

Its true, every time Scheini or one of the other young players makes a mistake they are chastised. But when Ribery or Toni make a similar mistake everyone is silent.

Ribery has been really abysmal lately. He only plays for himself and refuses to pass to open teammates. He seems to think that dribbling 1-on-3 every posession is going to work. Early in the season he was able to get in behind the defense because he played quick 1-2's with the other midfielders. I haven't seen him attempt this in weeks.

At this moment, I am the only person who has voted to abstain from voting on the question. Personally, I don't know if he should be fired at the moment or just let him finish out the season because there's advantages and disadvantages to both. Yes, Bayern could get a new manager who can fix the problem or get one who will make things worse. This is a 50/50 situation. Bayern either wins or loses with whatever decision that is made.

If Hitzfeld is fired then who would be the front runner for the job? There have been two constant names thrown around on the board. Mourinho and Klinsmann. I know some folks say Mourinho, but Bayern has stated that they want a coach who can speak german, which Mourinho can not do. I am not a big fan of Mourinho but he is funny to watch and listen to. But, I just don't think Bayern would want a coach who has a ego bigger than Kahn's and is set on his own ways. However, I think Bayern would win with him.

Klinsmann is not an option. I just don't think he would uproot his family to coach Bayern. His son is still young and I just don't think he would take the Bayern job while his son is still in school. Perhaps when his son is older and into college and a job was available would Klinsmann consider moving back to Germany. But until then, I would say that he should not be considered.

When I was typing that comment I was the only person who had voted to abstain. It took me longer to type it because the phone rang. However, after I was able to post my comment, I saw that someone else had voted to abstain.

When people started talking about Klinsi taking the English job, he did not rule himself out. Now if he really thought he could leave the US of A, why wouldn't he rule himself out? Just a possibility..
