My Mum passed away in her sleep two days ago, after a short illness.

Though she never knew the difference between a goal kick and a throw on, she supported the Hammers through her three sons and my Dad. She shared our joy and laughed a little at our frustration.

She bought more tickets to West Ham games than most true fans. She bought them for me and my brothers. She gave us petrol money, so that as students; we could travel to away games.

A true West Ham girl, she was born in Custom House. She also lived in Plaistow, Stratford, Dagenham, Barking and Hamstead: before retiring to Bournemouth.

I went over to England when we knew that she would die and it was lovely to be at her side when she took her last breath. She was fully aware until she went into that final 10 hour sleep. She had time to tell us all that she loved us and to be told the same.
She died in the way that people should. Surrounded by family and in peace.
Thanks Mum................for everything. Rest in peace pet. Tony.

And mine are with you mate. To lose a Mum in her eighties is one thing, but to lose a daughter in the prime of her lifer is something else. It destroys you for a long time, but I know the pain fades into memories. Hang in there.

Hamstead? Bournemouth? Bloody hell she got around a bit! Feel for you mate. But, as you said (and I think its pretty bloody wonderful) that fiery ball of pain we call grief, eventually turns into a place thats good to visit with happy memories.
Maybe most important, it sounds like she had a great family with her right to the end. Not everyone gets that.

Tony my thoughts and prayers are with you mate. In the 5 years or so we have all got to know each other through this wonderful modern invention. I feel you guys have often comforted me through difficult times. You know we are all with you. Your mum sounded like a wonderful east end lady and those incredible memories will always be with you.

Hammermolder my thoughts and prayers are with you. As a father of 3 near adult youngsters my heart goes out to you and yours.
As Tony said hang in there mate. I lost a 24 year old nephew last year in tragic circumstances. I was with his mum recently and time does help heal the pain.
God be with you and yours mate we are thinking of you.

Tony's mum and Crista, rest in peace.

I have nothing to say other than to add to the respects being paid on this thread.

I cannot imagine what it must be like to lose either a mother or daughter.

May their memory be fitting to the lives they lead.

Norway, please also accept my sincere condolences. It's almost 2 years since I lost my own mum, but she lived life to the full for all of her 89 years. Only her body let her down, she was still very much aware of everything up until her last breath. I chose to celebrate her life even though the sorrow of her passing still gets to me. All she ever wanted was company, someone to chat to - she had no desire for material things. My own family are very close-knit and we always find time to get together to share our memories of what has been in general a very happy existence. I'm sure you and your family do the same.

To Molder, all I can say is I understand what you must be going through. I have a son and a daughter (twins) who are now nearly 8 years old. However, almost 10 years ago, my wife was carrying twin boys who were fated to be born prematurely at only 24 weeks. Callum survived just 24 hours, but Nathan fought bravely for 5 weeks before he too succumbed. To lose those who have so much to live for just wrenches your guts out and I can only surmise what pain you must be feeling. As time goes on the pain does recede - even though we only have limited memories of our boys they are still precious. Cling on to those memories because they do become more comforting as the time passes. We were blessed to have healthy twins a couple of years later, but they were never replacements, and they are growing up knowing of their older brother's short time with us. Hang on in there mate, it does get easier, I promise you.

Thinking of you both at this sad time.
