Juan Pablo Carrizo: The goalkeeper had confirmed that his era in River had come to an end, though his European passport has not been validated yet. Other possibilities exist at the moment, yet the doors to stay with "la banda" have opened up once again.

Fernando Belluschi: Porto of Portugal and Olympiakos of Greece are interested in him. Although there are no official offers for him, River's directives aren't going to put any traps to his possible departure. A positive point? Simeone requested that they don't sell him, not to mention that River would only get 40% of his transfer money if he is sold (not too much money).

Augusto Fernandez: Fiorentina (Italy) and Levante (Spain) are planning on acquiring the right winger over the January transfer window. The plan, for now, is to not sell both Belluschi and him at the same time (one would leave, while the other would stay for at least another six months).

Radamel Falcao Garcia: Fluminense of Brazil are still interested in the foward's services. They were willing to pay $5,000,000 for 50% of the transfer, though River want to get paid around $16,000,000 for the full transfer. The reason? If only 50% is sold a good percentage will have to go to the Fair Play school (where Falcao originally came from), while selling all his rights would mean only paying 10% to the school.

Diego Buonanotte: Atletico Madrid are rumoured to be chasing the "dwarf". Not much more is known on his situation, though it would be an extremely huge upset to see him leave at such a young age and with a very small amount of minutes in Primera.

Daniel Vega: The ex-Nueva Chicago goalkeeper is on loan, though he would like to leave due to not receiving chances. The directives will be looking to convince him to stay, though his future does not seem to clear, especially if Carrizo remains in the team next semester.

Sebastian Dominguez: Estudiantes's defender, who was one of the candidates to reinforce our back-line next sesaon, has agreed to join America (Mexico) and therefore will not be wearing red-and-white starting January.

It's already an established rumor but I'm hoping it comes true, Chupete Suazo to River. More recently I've seen Chupete to independiente, that would another failure for Aguilar. Hopefully Ruben can be sold to someone in the ukraine.

It is even less. Of the 80% that River and the "empresarios" have, the first 5 million go to the empresarios. Why? Because River first bought 80% of Belluschi for 5 million from Newells. River went ahead to sell half of what they got for 5 million (they got their money back) and kept the player until June 2007. After that date, the player needed to be sold ... but since his semester was poor, it was extended for another 6 months. The empresarios use Swiss Lucarno, 2nd division, to represent their %. There were penalties in case River wanted the extension, yet no penalties were applied since the empresarios wanted to maximize Belluschi's value after the Libertadores and Clausura disappointing form.

So for example, if the player is sold for the 10 million Euros being mentioned = around US$15 million.

Newells gets: 20% = US$3 million (they already got US$5 million for the 80%)

Empresarios + River get: US$15 million minus US$3 million = US$12 million

From those US$12 million, the empresarios get the first US$ 5 million. The remaining US$7 million is split in half between River and the empresarios.

So for the US$ 15 million sale:
Newells = 3 million (for the 20% they kept of their player)
River = 3.5 million (out of no investment - but pushing back their own youngsters and their exposure)
Empresarios = 8.5 million (out of a US$ 5 million investment)

If the sale is US$20 million:
Newells = 4 million (for the 20% they kept of their player)
River = 5.5 million (out of no investment - but pushing back their own youngsters and their exposure)
Empresarios = 10.5 million (out of a US$ 5 million investment)

Hope this clears up the little $$ River will get from the Belluschi transfer.

Damn dude, it's about time you started this thread.:p In regards to Sebastian Dmoniguez signing with Club America, I don't really think that's a huge loss. Sure, we do need one or two new central defenders, but was he really the answer?? Probably not. I still say we go after the Colombiano from Nacional, Humberto Mendoza. Or what about Matias Lequi from Celta Vigo?? He's still young and he's currently playing in the 2nd Division in Spain. Wouldn't the lure of playing in the Copa Libertadores bring him back to play for River?? I always thought he was a solid defender.

Well, even though it's not that big of a deal, it would have been nice to have another CB join the team: we are currently needing players in that position, and now Nasuti is rumoured to be close to joining Astrada's Colon.

As for Lequi, I would love to see him arrive any time soon, but I just don't see it happening.

Well there were the rumours from yesterday regarding Ronald Raldes from Central and Julio Cesar Caceres from Tigres. Except Central would probably ask for a fortune for Raldes and Tigres probably wouldn't want to negotiate with us. Who knows though, now that we have a new coach at the helm, maybe that would lure a few players away.

Hey Loco,

They're reporting in Brazil that Falcao to Fluminense is a done deal. He will be reporting to Brazil on Jan. 2 to sign the deal...

Raldes has been rumored to go to River for the past 2 years........every off season. Your right his price tag probably isnt as accesible as River would like. But if a CB is what is needed then he would be a good option.

Sebastián Abreu suena como uno de los posibles refuerzos de River Plate y admite la seducción que le produce el club Millonario. El delantero uruguayo está jugando en los Tigres de Monterrey y su situación para desvincularse es compleja.

I would guess Central's pricetag for Raldes is somewhere between $5-7 million which is pretty high. I'm surprised he hasn't been sold to a European club yet.

Clarin was reporting that Porto offered 10 million dollars for Belluschi but River was hoping to hold out for 12 million. The rumors that I saw said that Belluschi wants to leave for Europe. River said that only one of Belluschi/Augusto will leave this transfer window and, even though Simeone would prefer to keep Belluschi, it seems like he is the more likely to leave.

Also, what happens to Carrizo if his passport falls through again and he can't go to Lazio? He sounded recently like he wanted to leave River, but does he stick around for another tournament if the transfer is postponed again?

Quick Updates:

- The possibilities of Andres D'Alessandro returning on a six month loan have completely disappeared. This is due to Zaragoza's unwillingness to negociate his way out of the club. It would have been a dream to see him play along side the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Ariel Ortega, and Augusto Fernandez, but it appears it won't be much more than that (a dream).
- The transfers of Fernando Belluschi and Radamel Falcao Garcia are currently on standby-mode. Unfortunately, Belluschi is said to be on his way to Greece to sign his contract with Olympiakos, while everything seems to indicate that Falcao will depart any time soon.
- Sergio Almiron, an Argentine midfielder who is currently playing for Juventus, could be arriving on loan. He knows Simeone well, and the Italians wouldn't mind loaning him out either. Don't be surprised if you see him wearing la banda in 2008.
- With the possible incorporation of Facundo Quiroga slowing down, the club directives are thinking of bringing in Gustavo Cabral of Racing Club. The central defender is young and seems to have potential. His possibilities of joining River are high.
- Sebastian Abreu is still trying to resign his contract with Tigres in order to joing "los Millonarios", but the Mexican Football Federation are being loyal to the "no-transfers-related-to-River" rule. Either way, things seem to be going on the right path, almost officially confirming him as our first incorporation for the new season.
- The club is trying to loan out Matias Abelairas and Rene Lima, with the second player being linked to Banfield.

I heard there was a possibility of Carrizo joining Zaragoza on loan for the second half of the season. If he goes Simeone will try to get Andujar from his old club, Estudiantes.

Falcao isnt going to brasil and River needs to lower his price because the kid gets injured taking his daily shower

Flum bought 3 highly rated strikers and them paying 15 mill for him seems stupid and not going to happen

any news on defenders we might get ??? cause that is really what kills us our shit defense

January 2, 2008 -

Fernando Belluschi: "El Rasta" will be going to Greece to finalize his transfer and sign a three year contract with Olympiakos. The deal, which will also leave River 15% of a future transfer fee, has officially been confirmed.

Sebastian Abreu: The Uruguayan will be the first reinforcement of 2008 for River, after finally resigning his contract with Tigres of Mexico. He will arrive as a free agent on loan for 18 months.

Radamel Falcao Garcia: Everything seemed to indicate that the Colombian would be transfered to Fluminense of Brazil. In fact, the suspicious deal ultimately fell, leaving River with another foward for now. There is no guarantee that he won't be sold to another club, but if he stays, he will have to fight for his spot vs. Abreu, Alexis Sanchez, Ruben, Andres Rios, Buonanotte, amongst others.

Rodrigo Archubi and Sergio Almiron: River plan on incorporating either player on loan to reinforce the left side of our midfield.

Augusto Fernandez: The youngster could be sold to Lazio or Fiorentina, though the plan is to have him remain at the club for another six months.

Julio Cesar Caceres: The defender, who performed well while at River in 2006, was mentioned as one of the possible reinforcements, but not much more than that. To my surprise, the club he seems to be linked closest to is Boca Juniors! This transfer would be sad, not only because of his past with "la banda", but also because he really is a good defender. If the transfer goes through, we can officially call him one of the few traitors since Gabriel Cedres.

God I hope this doesn't happen. Talk about a player who's career has gone downhill. He went from playing with Sao Paolo, Real Betis, Bordeuax, and last but not least, FC Dallas:eek:

If River isn't able to bring in D'Alessandro or Almiron, I don't see why we don't go after Alvaro Pereira of Argentinos Juniors or Gonzalo "Chori" Castro of Real Mallorca. "Chori" Castro barely plays for Mallorca and Pereira was probably Argentinos Juniors most consistent player during the 2007 Apertura.

A player who I haven't heard many rumors of, but someone who might become available is Sebastian Leto. The English papers are saying that Benitez could get fired at Liverpool and I think Leto really hasn't shown a whole lot in England. Maybe River could go in for him for the Clausura. Sort of a similar situation as Boca with Paletta.
