I'm looking for some external storage options for my PC, and was wondering what is a better option:
1) a external hard drive
2) online storage
3) both?
Thanks for any advice that can be given.

It depends what your priorities are. If this is for a backup and you are concerned about your computer getting stolen or something happening to your home (fire, flood, lightning, out of control alien spaceship, whatever) then the internet is the better option. If something outside the computer destroys the computer, it is likely going to take the hard drive sitting near by as well.
If you need large amounts of storage at high speed at low cost, (like, say, you do occasional video editing and need lots of space, but not every time you turn on the computer) then the local hard drive is better. You only pay for it once, it's got a fat pipe to the computer, and you never lose the connection when rain gets in the Comcast switchbox.

Thanks for the advice, we went with the external hard drive.

That was some mighty quick decision making.

I have an external hard drive that i store my documents on. 150GB. I use some online storage for some files...but i don't like to rely on them as sometimes sites can go under construction/maintenance and counting on a constant internet signal is never guaranteed.

A free trial and then $50 per year for apparently unlimited storage. Good deal? Scam? Anyone know?
