Steinbrenner's, Wilpon's, at this point i don't care so long it's someone who can get it done.

except for one family, no, NO CONNECTION AT ALL TO THE F*CKIN DOLANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whatever futility everyone complains about with he current "NY" mls team would multiplied by 100 if those morons were to be involved.they obviously care more about the botton line than if the team they own wins or not.

at least the Steinbrenners and Wilpons have shown they give a dam about putting on a winning product for their fans. it does help knowing that Hank was a passionate soccer fan, someone with prior knowledge of the sport would b a plus IMO.

The MLS would have to make some adjustments to their sexual harassment policy let the Dolans in...

When are the Nets moving to Brooklyn?

i am glad this thread was started cause i also read that newsday article (very interesting read) and i wanted to ask this question to everyone else in BB land.

would it matter to anyone if Hank were to swoop in and steal the nyc2 bid from the Wilpons. not saying it WILL happen, but would it change ur mind in supporting nyc2.

it's not that outa the realm of possiblity.
- Grand Central is gonna lirr service by like 2011 or 2012, for the new yankee stadium their gonna have another stop for metro north so any of us from LI could just make that connection to save on time, and allow easier access for those living in the hudson valley.

-we keep talking about possibly converting shea into an SSS once Citi field is opened. well Yankee stadium has been used for soccer before with the Cosmos so the same can be said for that situation. ( i did hear some mention of expanding the parking lot for the new Yankee stadium so i will concede this could be an obstacle with this scenario, depending on by how much space would be desired.)

but if all things were equal, if Hank were to present a killer idea for an SSS, create a perfect storm to rival the Wilpons plans, and somehow snatch the bid, would that turn away any of u from our crusade for a soccer team in NYC? again, there's not even one rumor of this happening. but since many of us r mets fans i was wondering if u guys could put up with Hank.

i've made my feelings known already in this thread but i'll just put it like this. the knicks r my favorite team (tear drop) but if Bruce Ratner (Nets owner) were to somehow get involved, i could care less cause i'm down for the cause of nyc2.

I dont care who buys the team.Yes it would an extra bonus for me if the owner of my favorite baseball team bought the rights to NYC2,but I could really care less who it was as long as we get our team.Although I do agree with you about the Nolans.....uck! People should give up their tickets to Knicks games to show the suits that they wont spend money on a subpar product. If they keep selling out they have no incentive to make the team better.

I don't miss losing with the Knicks... you get used to it. What I don't like the complete disrespect to Knick fans and employees. When you coach calls women "bitches" and says he doesn't care about the fans I find it hard to support that.

Back on topic: the only people I can bringing a stadium to NYC and getting a stadium built are Wilpon, the Steinbrenners, Bloomberg, and maybe Trump.

I am sure there are a few lesser known parties that would like to run an MLS franchise, but (A) will the league trust a rookie owner in the media capital of the world and (B) will the city give money for a stadium someone that does not have a track record of proven development results.

And I would not limit the Steinbrenners to the Bronx. Last I heard Shea was city owned and we have already discussed locations in Brooklyn for Wilpon. I think when you get people like these everyone is up for discussion.

What would be really interesting is if the Wilpons/Steinbrenners went in as partners for NYC2 lol,you never know.

Well - i am going to play devils advocate as to why this wont happen

Would they play the games on YES or SNY!!

This is what it would come down to! Not sure they would split either!

Also with a steinbrenner team - not sure i want a team of Clemens juice patients running around

Oh yea - that was a cheap shot!!! Pride, Power, Prescriptions!

Either of those channels would be great for a team to play on. Saturday baseball games are usually during the day, so that would free up YES for a soccer game at night. As for SNY, I'm pretty sure the Mets play on ch. 11 for weekends anyway. One thing I cannot stand is when the Red Bulls get bumped to MSG 2 or FSN.

Dolan is the Fcuking pig that killed the stadium deal for the Jets. If that had happened we would have ALREADY had a soccer team within NYC proper. Because of his greedy ass, NYC lost out on the Olympics for 2012. So I say FCUK DOLAN!

I'm a Yankee fan. But I support NYC teams all the way. So Ill cheer for the Mets as long as they arent up against my Yankees. That said I could care less who owned the team whether its the Steinbrenners or the Wilpons.

On a side note I have amazing news that I shared with one poster on here regarding the NYC team. Hopefully things pan out.
