I don’t think you can just get over this like that.

This is a major failure. Werder have not improved in in 5 years . shaaf doesn’t seem to be learning anything. He was never even close to those unimpressive magath-bayern . and last year when Bayern weren’t up there they still couldn’t win it.

I think it’s time for werder to stop kidding themselves that everything is great. You haven’t won the league and you haven’t reached the qurters of the cl in the last 3 years.

With the players you have and the football you are able to play , that’s a failure.

And i think i can get over it like this.

Concerning the problems we had i am very happy with all the team reached
in the last months. I am proud of the team and i know many people expect more, but as Wappy already desribed, it´s hard for Werder to play against teams with tactics like Lazio and Olympiakos, especially when key players are missed. The comment about Werder didn´t improve in the last years is populism. If you would have ever been to Bremen in 2002 and 2007 you must be blind if you don´t see the changes.

Now i return to tv to watch the VfB match. ;)

Werder have been playing the same way and getting knocked out of Europe for 4 seasons now, why doesn’t schaaf try to adapt the team to those circumstances ? he doesn’t seem to be learning anything. It’s not good enough to say “ oh well, they played on counterattacks, and we don’t know how to play against such teams”

i meant to say since you won the title, that's 3.5 years ago. since then werder have disappointed.

Dissapointed ? The team lost many key players during this time
and still managed to qualify for the CL every season. No other German team
have reached this. In the CL and UEFA-cup they have collected most points
behind Bayern Munich and this season managed to stay alive in Europe
although the team suffered under brutal injury problems.

I agree with you, that more could have been expected, but if you consider where we have been after matchday 4 i think the qualification for UEFA-cup
round of 32 is a sucess.

i think it's psychological... the team can't be satisfied with beating real madrid. There is no question that werder is the better team, and now finally we are seeing this: like all good teams we have depth, and we can win a game or two without the exact starteleven.

No matter what excuses you guys make, i'm disappointed... just like i was when we should have beaten Juve, when we got killed by Lyon, when we couldn't beat barca in the last minutes, when we lost twice badly to Olympiacos, and when we lost badly to Espanyol. The team seems to just give up when they reach expectations. I don't think the attacking style is the problem at all.

Anyway.. i'm just disappointed.. we're supposed to be a top team in europe and we can't show it. We can't blame the injuries, we're allowed to expect alot from our team now.

I'd probably agree with you if it hadn't been such an injury-prone season thus far. I'm actually suprised that we are up there in the BL and stayed alive in Europe and in the Cup. Try to be a bit more humble. There are teams in Germany that make a lot more money than Werder and they regularly finish below us.

We lost to Olympiakos not because Schaaf didn't use the right tactics but rather because we weren't as agressive in the crucial one-on-one situations in the midfield.
