I am across the pond so I don't hear any of the transfer rumors except that they were interested in bringing Eddie Johnson in from the MLS? That can't be true, right?

I don't think he's near the top of our shopping list, but could happen. Apart from the usual rumours in the red tops, Steve Coppell tends to be hush-hush about his transfer targets.

Main prirorities are an offensively minded central midfielder with good distribution and a solid right winger.

I highly doubt that, we have Kitson and Doyle who are our currently regular goalscorer for us, if anything, its either going to be either a defender or central midfielder. Our defense hasn't been the best so far this year.

while i agree that a center mid who can put his stamp on the game has to be the #1 priority, i have a few questions regarding other potential signings:

1. Doyle and Kitson are clearly that starters up top, if healthy, but if Lita is sold can Shane Long be relied on to be the first attacking option of the bench? furthermore, if Long is ready or not, what if doyle or kitson were to get injuries? it just seems to me that if Lita is sold Reading have to sign another striker

2. I agree that defense definitely has been a problem this year, but if you bring someone in who do you replace? Murty is probablly more of a CCC caliber player than a EPL caliber but he is the skipper, and from what i can tell the heart and soul of the Royals, ten years there, correct? obviously Shorey's job is safe unless he wants out. I suppose Ingimaarson and Sonko have been a bit suspect this year but Inga played so well last year IMO and Sonko is just coming back from his injury. i guess what I'm asking is do you see Coppell benching one of these guys in favor of a new guy?

3. Is it looking like Lita will be sold?
4. How about Shorey? if not, how long do you see him staying, he seems poised to make a move to a bigger club, though i certainly hope he stays

just some questions i had and wanted to perspective of someone who follows them a bit closer than I (although i haven't missed a match of theirs that was on TV here in the US)
